The location is superb and the staff is very helpful and friendly.

The bathroom was not working properly. The flush in the toilet didn't work, apparently this was a recurrent issue but wasn't fixed. We had to have a bucket in the bathroom to fill it with water from the shower and flush the toilet.

The wind in the flags kept the sound of the waves from my ears at night.

Susanna and her family are excellent hosts and made our 24 hours on the island very special. Her husband Philipe is a great chef so our meals at the restaurant were delicious. Visitors to Berlenga Grande should realize that this is a remote location only reachable by boat so all the luxuries of a 5-star hotel are not available. The rooms are small but functional with a comfortable bed, a shower, and a closet. What more do you need in paradise? Hope the night sky is clear when you stay overnight because you will see a million stars in the darkness away from city lights.

We knew a lot about the property before we got there so we were not surprised by the basic nature of the rooms.

The view and location are any stunning and the terraces are perfect to watch the water and sunset. It was really great staying overnight so you can enjoy the island without the day trip crowds.

The toilets have a particular smell that takes getting used to.

we loved staying there! it was such a magical, special experience on a crazy gorgeous island nature preserve - unforgettable. the B&B itself was lovely - very kind hosts, comfy rooms, and delicious food, especially considering that they're on a remote island and have to bring everything in specially! very thoughtful and attentive people and the views and activities available on the island are truly special and made us feel very lucky.

I feel privileged to have stayed there. What a treat it was to share the island when all the tourist boats leave in the evening! Those hours — until the boats return in the morning — are pure magic. My husband now wants to spend all his summers there. The hotel is not perfect, but the wonderful staff compensate for any shortfalls there might be. And the evening meal was the best we had in Portugal — it was freshly caught fish, simply prepared and so delicious. And the company was fabulous too! A few tips: - The night was warm, we kept the window and the door open — we had a lovely fresh breeze and a good sleep. - Watch the sunset from the top of the “right” path

An absolutely magical place. Suzanna and staff are so welcoming. The island is stunning and it is amazing once all the other tourists have left and you have the island almost all to yourselves. The room was lovely and simple and the view stunning. Our evening meal was the catch of the day and we swam in the morning in the sea, with no one else about. we will be back :)

Susanna was an exceptional hostess. She welcomed us warmly even though they were so many customers demanding their attention. Our dinner was fabulous- the island is just waiting to be explored and relaxed upon!

The owners, Suzana and her husband Philipe run both the accommodation and the restaurant on the Island. Two things need to be noted regarding this place. Firstly, besides a small and rather neglected camping site, this is the ONLY accommodation on the Island, it has a super view of the Atlantis and the docking bay. Secondly, before you book a room here you need to ensure you have a means of getting to the Island, to do this you contact a company called Feeling Berlenga e-mail feelingberlenga.pt or mobile 00351 916209659 and speak to Joana, tell her your plans, she will pre-book a passage for you on one of they're various boats. Your holiday really starts when you board one of these boats, the skipper and crew are all jolly people, specially Joao, "I`ll be back" look, with his dark glasses. The Island has various walks, all interesting, the Restaurant, although a little pricy has excellent food, the hamburgers are home made and superb (your loss if you don't try one). There are also boating activities around the Island such as Cave exploring from the sea side which I strongly recommend you book through Feeling Berlenga. In all, it was an excellent two days, Suzana and Philipe made us feel as if we where at home and the Feeling Berlenga boat group made the whole trip worth while. Suffice it to say that I will be back. It was superb. A very special thank you to Suzana who at my request even arranged a birthday cake for one of our group, that doesn't sound impressive but when one is on a desolated Island with NO natural resources, a simple cake is not so easy to come by.
