Tony is a great host. He is knowledgable on the area and life in general, and loves to have a drink with you if that's your thing. Comfy bed and great ensuite.

Tony was a terrific host. His home is absolutely stunning.... the wallpapers wow... and we felt very comfortable and well looked after. The home cooked breakfast was spot on and it was nice sitting around the table eating together. Tony willingly helped us out with local information. Thoroughly recommend Pheasant Lodge and hope to go back some day.

Brilliant litte B&B. Great edvice for seeing the local museum or going for walks. Part of the experience staying with all these antiques in a house built in 1886. Great dinner (pre-ordered) was had with the host & breakfast was just as good. Dinning at 1850's table & chairs! Normally it is hard to say, but everything consdered - THEY EXCELLED HERE

Was great to get off the beaten track and discover this amazing place to stay. Tony is a fantastic host and has fully renovated this mid 1800 home of the local saw miller owner. His attention to detail is incredible with the decor and antique items representing the original era. Each room is the private bathroom. The linen and towels were of quality. The breakfast served in the formal dining room with candles. Was delicious and set you up for the day. Definitely a great stop between Auckland and the entrance/exit to the north.
