Magnolias Cottage

Our stay at Magnolias Cottage was so great! You can see how they have worked hard to make everything comfortable. The bed was comfy, the little setup when we arrived was great and you have to have the breakfast, it was lovely! Overall a great stay, very comfortable and you can see that the host has worked hard on the property.

Beautiful cottage with a wonderful view. We got the double room in the house with private bathroom (not ensuite, but we didn’t mind). The room is tastefully decorated and even though it’s not big the space is well utilized. The bed is bigger than what it looks like on the photos. There’s also a nice balcony and air conditioning. Maria, the host, is a lovely sweet woman who gave us many good tips in the area. Be sure to go the Al Medas and O Burgo restaurants!

Honestly, very little. Maybe it would be nice to have a screen door to the balcony so you can keep it open at night without getting mosquitos.

Maria was a lovely host and greeted us with homemade cake and drinks. Breakfast was delicious: cake, homemade jams, bread, coffee, juice, fresh fruits, eggs, cheese and ham. Beautiful property. We didn't realise there was no fridge in the room, but Maria was kind to lend us a bit of space in her fridge.

Warm and welcoming Maria treats you like family. Setting is on peaceful property in the countryside outside Lousa. We stayed in the separate small cottage which was comfortable and would highly recommend. Quiet and a nice change from busy Lisbon. Exceptional breakfast each morning with fresh figs picked by Maria and homemade jams she makes from fruits grown on property along with pastries, fruits, meat and cheese; selection of breads, etc. Great value for the money. Note Maria only accepts cash--no credit cards.

The cottage is in a beautiful, historic part of Portugal, near the river Ceira

Maria is an excellent host. She has made an effort to create a place of love and welcome in this hidden gem of Central Portugal. Location is superb for exploring the schist villages and river beaches.
