The best accommodation in Sri Lanka. Privacy (no other quests in the building), quality of the room, the breakfast, all amenities, and top quality service. Cannot recommend more. Wish I could stay longer. It's the perfect retreat for at least a week.

Everything was perfect.

The place is just like in the pictures. It features a mini apartment with your own private garden. Location is good, really quiet, but just a short walk to town. But without a doubt, the best thing about this property is the owners. They went above and beyond to ensure I had a great stay: breakfast, arranging laundry for me, arranging tuk tuk and drivers... Their generosity and friendliness are what make this place so special.

Amazing place to stay would definitely stay here again. Lovely room hidden away with its own garden, patio and hammocks. Room was very clean and comfortable and nice shower/ bathroom. Had WiFi, A/C and provided us with first aid kit, hairdryer and games to play. Staff were so friendly and nice provided us a with a ginormous breakfast every morning and umbrellas for the rain. Great location, close to town without hearing the noise.

The morning breakfast was amazing and our hostess was incredibly polite and attentive. The room itself was perfectly tucked away from the noise and fumes of the main road. The small garden was lovely to sit in and read when we wanted some peace and quiet and the decor of the room was pleasant. The bed was comfortable with additional layers available for the cooler evenings. The hosts were also able to help organise transport for us to Weligama.

I didn't love the "wet room" style of the bathroom and there could be some additional ventilation in there, but we knew that this would be the case when booking.

This has been our best stay in Sri Lanka so far. We absolutely loved this place. It is not far from the main street in Ella, but far enough to be mercifully quiet. It is a beautifully fitted out room with King bed nice bathroom. You have a patio and small garden out the front, hammocks, table and chairs. Our hosts have made an effort to provide all the little niceties to make your stay comfortable - tea, coffee, hair dryer, first aid stocks, bathroom supplies etc. It is spotlessly clean. As it gets cold in Ella, we had blankets provided too. Breakfast was included and was absolutely HUGE. Beautiful! Loved sitting on the porch eating it. Kept us going all day! They have a scooter for hire if you want yo get around yourself - we didn’t heed it as we had a personal driver. Coukd mot fault the setvice.

We had one of the best stays in Sri Lanka here at Alone Cage! We spent two nights and immediately after arrival wanted to extend, but of course a gem like this was fully booked. Some comments suggest no A/C, which is not true anymore. The whole tiny house was fully renovated a month ago. They thought about every little detail, which makes you feel like sleeping at a friends home with personality and soul. The entire family was lovely and very fast in responding to our messages. And to put the cherry on the top, the breakfast was incredible!

This place is outstanding and if you are visiting Ella, a perfect place to stay. Communication was excellent. We were able to park our tuktuk safely. There is only one room but it is a separate freestanding cottage with a private verandah and front yard. There are hammocks to lay on and the setting is idyllic. Peaceful, quiet and calm. The room is spacious with a comfy bed, quality linens and so many special, homely touches and comforts. The bathroom is great and has hot water! There is no unpleasant smell. The breakfast is amazing. So much wonderful food and an example of the great hospitality. Our hosts were attentive but not annoying, checking in to make sure everything was ok and then letting us get on with enjoying the place It’s about a 10 minute walk into the cafe street. Alone Cage is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed—and we travel full time.

Room had a lot of useful items such as old books about Sri Lanka, board games, first aid, coffee and many more. I can clearly tell that host have great knowledge on how to make customers cozy. Also host was very helpful and kind. We enjoyed the hammocks on the terrace. Highly recommend!
