Alone Cage Ella

Very kind hosts. Beautiful and comfortable room. Just enough out of the city center to avoid the noise, but every thing is on walking distance.

The room/ bungalow is a small property by itself with its own small private garden. The owners live next door and are very friendly and happy to help. The room is close to the main town in Ella but set on a side street so is quiet from Street noise. It also benefits from being a short walk to little adams peak. The room is a good size and has a fridge, TV and sofa as well as outside seating and hammocks. The breakfast is huge and also came with a whole pot of coffee. The WiFi was good enough for basic use and better than expected for this rural location. Although a little more expensive than other places we have stayed, the hot shower, size of room and breakfast made it great value for money

We very much enjoyed our stay here and the facilities were excellent. Large room with big comfortable bed, a drying rack, drawers, coffee table, small sofa, fridge, iron, hairdryer, case rack and TV. The air con was good. The bathroom was large and the shower excellent . The front porch had a table and chairs where we ate, and a hammock. The bungalow is located down a quiet leafy lane on the edge of the forest and yet not too far from local shops. We stayed 2 nights here and breakfast was plentiful and delicious and a different choice each day. The hosts Imali and Waruna are a young couple who want their guests to feel welcome and happy there and Waruna can arrange transport / tuktuk to wherever you need. Thank you to you both you deserve to do well!

Lovely helpful host, very responsive,, ideal location

Probably a bit overpriced if I am honest. But that shouldn't put you off if you want comfort, privacy and good location, this is a great place.

Lovely kind people. Went out of there way to please us . Loved having our own private garden and terrace . Enjoyed very much . Woke up to birds singing . Quiet and peaceful

A little damp , but it had rained for 4 months

Waruna and his wife were very helpful. They gave us a lot of recommendations and helped us getting everywhere. The apartment was spacious, clean, and had a nice outside terrace. Definitely recommend getting the breakfast included!

Our young hosts, Waruna and Imali, were very friendly and helpful, providing advice about sightseeing and organising transport, as/when needed. The walk to town was easy and not too far - and it was not steep at all. Our room was a good size for us, our suitcases and day packs. We appreciated the luggage racks that were provided. The bathroom is big and there was plenty of hot water. We also appreciated the refrigerator to keep our drinks cool. We slept very well in the comfortable bed. The area was lovely and quiet and dark; one night fireflies delighted us along the last section of our route home. Breakfast was generous and tasty. We were there for 4 nights and the breakfast was varied a little bit each day, but always included a juice, fresh fruit, an omelette and a different Sri Lankan delight (eg dhal, pumpkin curry, string hoppers, sambol…) toast with butter and jam and coffee. Our hosts were most attentive and did everything they could to ensure we had a lovely stay, which we did. We are happy to highly recommend Alone Cage Ella.

Very nice place in every aspect! Great, quiet location, you can walk to the city center in 10, 15 minutes while still being close to important sights in the area. The host family was super nice, helping us with our overall trip through Sri Lanka. We got a huge king coconut when we arrived and the breakfast was the best we had during our entire trip through Sri Lanka. Thank you so much for the great start :)

Great accommodation! We enjoyed having a small home of our own - spacious with a very comfortable and big bed, and also with a small sofa and a coffee table. The area outside is also super nice to hang out, especially since we had some rain during our stay in Ella. We enjoyed the location being a bit more on the side, so we had quiet nights, but also it was a walking distance to restaurants and bars. The owners are also very friendly and attentive, they popped by when we needed them, but we had the space for ourselves. We highly recommend this accommodation.

Lovely people, very kind and helpful. Loved the fact we had our own private terrace and garden , great location. We had a fridge and kettle and hairdryer, coffee etc . Everything you need. Would stay here again and recommend others

Only criticism and this is not a big deal as it wouldn’t put me off staying again, is that it’s a little damp in the room . Maybe a vent could help solve this problem, but it had rained for months previously so maybe that was the reason and it will now dry out . Also maybe leave a sweeper/brush outside to sweep the floor 🧹
