The Dog Inn

A very old establishment. With a large car park and beer garden. With what I assume used to be stables which had been converted into holiday accommodation. The room was spacious well decorated but was heavily perfumed (not good for asthmatics) making me think something was being covered up. It was self contained with en-suite. The evening we arrived we ordered food from the pub which turned out to be very average pub grub. The breakfast was first class. The breakfast menu offered lots of options including cereal and fresh berries and yogurt. There were two options on the full English large or small. We opted for the small which was ample. It was freshly cooked and very tasty with top quality ingredients used. Most staff including the landlord were very helpful and friendly.

The carpet in the breakfast area was caked in stickiness. The lady who served us breakfast wasn’t particularly friendly she did her job and that was it. No ‘Good Morning’ ‘Did you sleep well? etc I totally get the fact that everyone has an off day but.

The proximity to the Cotswold Way was ideal right on the doorstep for our hikes. The young bar staff were lovely and the food was good. These 3 things are the only saving grace for this premises.

The overwhelming smell of ?? Damp in the room and pub. I have never seen such a dirty worn carpet in a pub and experience such sticky tables. The poor quality of cleanliness in the pub and in our room. Fortunately the bed and towels smelt fresh. The landlady at breakfast time was totally disinterested in the guests and I just got the impression she wasn't a morning person...... I see these concerns have been mentioned for years and nothing changes which is a real shame because it could be a lovely place to stay.

Great location in a lovely village. Good value for money. Dog friendly. Pub food is also good

Could do with being updated

Good location food on Saturday evening very good.

Bed was awful, too hard with a very thin duvet. We could hear neighbouring guests. Breakfast hosts not very pleasant and seemed unhappy if you asked for anything.

Food was excellent. We had dinner which we couldn't fault, and breakfast was exceptional

The rooms are in need of some serious TLC. Our family room felt like a hostel. No bedside tables and dirty carpets. Room smelt damp. Second room was decorated to a better standard, but shower was cold, TV had no sound, and room also smelt damp

Very welcoming and friendly

Breakfast was good room was a decent size. And the place is dog friendly which is a bonus. The staff we encountered where friendly and pleasant.

I wouldn't say I don't like as that's not quite rite all I would say is that the place could do with some TLC and more attention to detail with regards to cleaning.
