Basaltic Guest House

Unfortunately it was impossible to like anything in this place, we rented a unit that said it was a 60 square meter apartment and we got a very small room (maybe 20 meters) with a yard that the owner considered the yard as part of the house. The stove made a lot of problems and we couldn't cook, there was no oven , the refrigerator without lighting we were required to pay for the towels (an absurdity we have not seen anywhere, and we travel all over the world) luckily a few days before the owner of the place informed us that we need to pay for towels and take a deposit before using them. (we brought towels from home with us) the toilet paper was enough For 1 day there was no coffee or tea service. It was like sleeping in a bathtub. There was always an unpleasant feeling everywhere in the unit! What is allowed and what is not allowed to do like children in kindergarten. The upper unit above us had no insulation and when people walked there the noise was terrible. You can go on in detail, but even writing and remembering is tiring and annoying

We had almost the entire house to ourselves and it was very quite throughout our stay. The location was nice too as it was very calming staying so close to the water!

The bed was a little too uncomfortable and during the night it was quite loud because of a few dogs in the neighborhood that were barking.

Cheap, quiet.

Host comes off as a good guy and then does everything in his power to keep your deposit, bringing up excuses such as the bathroom floor being wet and the room being disorganised. On top of that there is a 4 euro per person per day towel usage fee, go figure. The place lacks ac and heating so it gets cold, bed is uncomfortable, the green is a questionable stylistic choice that even a drunk wouldn’t make and the white lights make it look like a hospital waiting room.

The host is a very friendly person and offered me opportunities for actvities around the area. The accomodition ist very new and modern and i enjoyed my holiday so much.

Our stay was okay but I have to urge people to not book a room here as the owner stole our deposit, and did the same to a lot of other people (read the reviews here and on other travel websites. I hoped those people were just disgruntled customers and then the exact same thing happened to us.) The owner promised multiple times he would pay us back and never did. He went so far as lying to me about being hospitalised to explain why he hadn't payed us yet (he was posting on Facebook at the same time about being at a local restaurant and enjoying the lunch buffet). Some additional problems : the pillows and mattress were not very comfortable. The neighbour's dog is quite noisy. There was very little storage space for our stuff. And the people in the bedroom next to us had a very humid room with mold on the walls and ceiling. The owner told them it wasn't mold (Spoiler alert: I saw it. It was mold.), and refused to give them their money back when they left early because they were afraid for their health. In conclusion : save yourself some headaches and go elsewhere.

THE OWNER TOOK DEPOSIT IN CASH (50€) WHICH HE DID NOT SEND BACK (as he was promising to do immediately after the check-out which was 21 DAYS AGO), ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE NOW THE OWNER DOES NOT REPLY TO ANY OF OUR MESSAGES Besides: Bathroom (even the private one) out of the room (through the hallway and dining area) Each towel used costs 4€ No place to hang the towels in the bathroom Malfunctioning toilet When you come later than 22:00, you pay 30€ more (but he will not be there to accommodate you anyway) Wifi does not work in the room, nor data There is no phone signal in the room No A/C in the room No TV in the room No room service (cleaning for additional 35€) Very lousy bedding (just a sheet under a blanket) Uncomfortable mattress with a depression in the middle The main lighting in the room is very strongly white, which is not convenient for the evenings Just one bedside lamp (also white light) One person in one of the other rooms was snoring and it could be heard very loudly making it hard to sleep Noises from the street could be heard loudly in the room The church (which is very close) bells at random times, making it impossible to sleep Not updated in google (it says it is permanently closed, adds to the confusion when you are finding the place) No recycling bins in the house I was expecting far more for this price Unfortunately, it looks that the owner is more concerned about the scratches on the walls and his profit than about the comfort of his costumers, which is very low as a result

The facilities of the house

The stay was not bad at all, but then they keep the deposit using false arguments that you leave the room in poor condition and that you are not respectful, also ensuring that they send photos of the room (which they surely have previously taken to justify its theft before Booking). I do not recommend it for that reason, because they are not humble, they are liars and thieves. The site is passable, nothing exceptional either.

Upon arrival I met Nelson and his wife and was given the grand tour. The property has a large patio with shady trees and herbs and such growing which I was told I could use. This along with mint found during my walk-abouts provided lovely tea at the end of day. The accommodation itself boasts impressive basaltic walls with stucco finish. Throughout the spaces it's evident a good amount of thought went into the interior design with superb attention to detail and it was a delight to see the live-edge wood pieces tastefully displayed. The village has all the resources (shop, café, restaurant, ATM...) you might need with connection to the surroundings and is small and quiet, which was exactly what I was looking for. The unit I booked has it's own kitchen and bathroom and there is a washing machine outside, free to use and Cristina was so kind to offer me some washing liquids. Excellent accommodation, fantastic hosts, wonderful area!

The bed is the type you sink into (memory foam?) which was new to me but didn't inhibit rest at all.
