"A nice stop in well equipt guest house"

Équipement of the house, very warm welcome of Cristina. The washmachine is a plus.

Not very comfortable mattress.An additional bedside light is missing.

I liked so much the environment, Achadinha is small village north side of the island. The guesthouse is clean, the room was big and the outside patio can be a relaxing place where to have breakfast or dinner.

"DON´T VISIT THIS GUEST HOUSE !!"

Photos are accurate, if you want some lowcost accomodation withnout any requirements. Not great but not terribly equipped guest house. Anchadinha is cute little quiet village with nothing close by (car definitely needed).

The owner Nelson Pragana (also Azores Volcano Tours) is unfortunetaly a bloody thief. Check in had to be in his house in the oposite part of island. In 5 days no one took out the trash or cleaned bathroom. There are few signs, that you should do it by yourself, if you want to be in clean environment. Seriously? Biggest disappointment was owner s deposit policy. He will takes 50€ deposit and it is a big lottery if you get it back. Preferably do not visit this guest house. In the sad event that you will, always get your deposit back in person, NOT BY IBAN, he will never send it back. (Check other reviews, it did happen before, I gues a losts of times). He just finds a way to keep it, like "room did need more work to clean" or "you use towels and did not wash it" Just some empty saing, why not to return deposit. I visited probably 50+ accomodations in my years of traveling and this never happened before.

Firstly, I must mention that the Basaltic Guest House we stayed in was nice and clean. And well furnished. But cold (we didn't have sunny weather) and a bit noisy from the street. We also liked the little town of Achadinha and it provided a good base for exploring the island.

What we found disappointing was the strange behaviour of the owners. There are signs all over the house with do's and don'ts. Well, you name it, it's a new house. And they don't want to have it destroyed any time soon. But... During our stay, they wrote that they would clean the bathroom. After this visit, we started to get quite affective messages that we had ruined 2 white (white :D, sure, they look great in the promo photos) - towels. And that by hanging them around the bathroom (there were no hooks and it was raining outside), we might ruin the wooden furniture (wooden bathroom furniture that will ruin a wet towel? :)). After that, we didn't feel much like paying guests. Excerpt from the news: "If you do damages we have to talk in check out moment." "If you do damages we have to talk." "This rules is for all guests." "Did you understand?" By the end of our stay, we had not met the owner, they had not taken out the trash cans that were left full by other guests, they had not replaced the broken electric kettle, they had not arrived for check out. We still thanked them on whatsapp for our stay, washed the dishes, cleaned up what we could, and left. The owners then did not respond in any way to messages that they had to send back the deposit. Only after several calls did more accusations arrive: ruined towels (yes, the white ones had stains from use - there are thermal baths on the island, the water contains pigments and can't be easily washed off the skin), ruined bathroom furniture (I don't know what to make of that, hardly from hanging towels) and that we should in turn pay the €100 balance. We have travelled the world (as marked as a „irresponsible young people“ i am nearly 50 :)), we have never had a conflict anywhere, we are quiet guests who enjoy walking in the mountains and swimming in the sea.
