"Perfect location with a comfortable homey feel!"

Amazing beds! So so comfortable and the pillows. The whole house was beautiful and had so many comforts, including the fresh milk and juice! Plus fresh bread and eggs. Com was so lovely and came and showed us around and offered to start the fire for us. Was very kind.

Can’t fault it at all!

"Superb"

Great location for visiting Hobbiton. Host is lovely, welcoming and provided great tips for food in Matamata and Cambridge. Plenty of space and handy facilities.

Some areas could do with a bit more of a clean.

We absolutely loved the location as it was close to the Hobbiton film set. The lodge was clean and nicely decorated for our nights stay, the views from the lodge were stunning all in all a great place to stay.

Spacious with 3 bedrooms, hosts provide all the little things you need. Extra blankets & towels, some food like cereal/bread & eggs. A beautiful warm fire, after a day out 😊

"An authentic New Zealand experience"

Stunning place to stay close to Hobbiton. We absolutely loved the surroundings and location of this place. The Lodge itself is so unique - a comfortable home away from home with everything you need. Having breakfast provided was an added bonus with eggs from the chickens on-site. Kon and Briony are lovely and caring hosts and the communication about the check-in was fantastic. We stayed in September and it was raining and rather cool but the lodge has a fire place which was so cozy. We only got to experience it for 2 nights and I would happily return to stay for longer.

Nothing - Everything was just true New Zealand style

Our stay at Hills Vista Lodge was welcoming and very comfortable. Loved that it was so close to Hobbiton, that we didn't have to travel far after doing the banquet tour. Was great having breakfast provided as well.

Con & Briony Ward were exceptional. Welcoming from beginning to end. We arrived a little early to drop off our bags, then took off for Hobbiton, which is only a few minutes away. We returned to the Lodge around 9 pm to find the fire lit and lights turned on. Briony also popped in to check all was okay. We were very impressed with the comfortable facilities. Spacious and inviting. Highly recommended
