Picket Post House Accommodation

The location was quite good, though there's a train line close by. Looks lovely in an attractive location. Julie was very friendly. The room and ensuite were very clean. We liked the fresh fruit at breakfast.

Our room was above the host's lounge and we could hear the TV until late at night. Also there seemed to be an altercation going on between the hosts on Saturday. The atmosphere felt very strained and awkward. We felt that we were in the way and therefore we couldn't relax. The bed was a little too firm for me but that's a personal thing. The milk and teabags were very limited. Just enough for one cup per day. We didn't like to ask for more because of the atmosphere. There is an electric shower which has very poor flow. We have lived abroad for a long time and didn't realise that these still existed. There were only three small towels and a bathmat provided in the bathroom. We would expect at least 2 hand towels and two bath sheets as a minimum. We had to pay £10 extra each for a cooked breakfast. This was quite expensive as it consisted of one sausage, two small rashers of bacon, mushrooms, grilled tomato and a fried egg (I would normally have poached egg and my husband, scrambled egg. It would be good to have a choice. We expected the cooked breakfast to come with baked beans and hash browns for £10. Given that the B&B is in Lancashire, it would be good to showcase some local food eg. Black pudding. Just a thought. Perhaps we have been spoilt by our experiences of B&B's in Australia and New Zealand and we may need to lower our expectations.

Really beautiful house and grounds. Canal running past window. Decorated in classy traditional country house style.. Big private bathroom with deep bath and lots of hot water. Good range of continental breakfast items. Very friendly host.

This was a last minute booking. The location was good for us. Bedroom was nicely decorated and comfortabke bed. Breakfast was continental but you could have full English. We often visit this part of the country and will happily stay here again.

What an absolute gem of a place, beautiful!! We could not have been happier.

Loved everything about this B&B Absolutely beautiful as we drove in and very beautifully done inside. One of the loveliest B&Bs we have stayed in. Thank you Julie
