The Palace by Ocean

My family stayed here for one night and we absolutely loved it. Wished we had stayed longer. The staff were exceptionally friendly and greeted us with smoothies and cold refreshing towels and were always ready to help out. We really recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast which comes included. Kushan (the manager) made so many delicious curries for breakfast it was such a treat. The hotel was pristine and is only two years old (in 2025). The beds were very clean, comfy and cosy. We spent lots of time in the pool, which was a perfect temperature. Eagles flying overhead. There is a supermarket nearby with snacks and after walking for a short distance down a jungle lane is the beach. On the way back to the Palace there was a nice restaurant (Sunshine Restaurant) and as it became dark glowing fireflies appeared.

Nice & clean and the food was good. The staff were friendly, yet seemed very inexperienced.

*BEWARE* Overpriced & poor facilities / customer service. We had no hot water throughout our stay, despite informing the staff regularly, they did nothing about it. We requested to change rooms, however were told that all rooms were affected by the same issue, which turned out to be a lie after speaking to another guest, who'd had hot water throughout. They offered no apology for the lack of hot water for the entirety of our stay or anything in the way of a refund / recompense for the lack of this basic amenity. It promotes itself as a 4* hotel, but they are far from that, particularly disappointing as it is particularly expensive for the area.

My family and I truly felt so much peace and relaxation while staying at this beautiful property! From the moment we arrived until the time we checked out, each of the staff were nothing but helpful and very hospitable to us, and made us feel right at home! We loved the beautiful pools, meals and extremely comfortable rooms - not to mention the gorgeous views and proximity to the beach, convenience store and train station. We would absolutely love to return to this amazing place!

Not all of the rooms had hot water to use for showering/bathing
