Tranquility and beauty with magnificent hosts and the best breakfast you could hope for ever, Port Levy BnB was the perfect weekend retreat for me and my adult daughter as we sought a quiet getaway in rural Canterbury. It’s only an hour or so from the outskirts of Christchurch on a Saturday, but feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle. Verity is a self taught artist and her pottery, paintings and the home’s garden sculptures add a unique touch to the beautiful gardens that lead down a steep hill to the sea. Martin is a friendly and dedicated host, who served an incredible breakfast with various choices, filling us up for the day. The room is inside the home and downstairs so you have privacy, a beautiful next door bathroom with bath overlooking the view and small kitchen cupboard with kettle and fridge. I wish I had booked earlier and read sooner that guests can pay for a dinner, as I can imagine how delicious it would be. The interiors are elegant and the birdsong and views of sea and hills are a highlight. We soaked in the spa and enjoyed a nice chat in the upstairs kitchen with the hosts, who provided privacy and conversational entertainment perfectly, depending on your preferences. The road leading to the property is unsealed and rural, but fine for our little 2 wheel drive car, and the entrance is through a wooden gate with a small ceramic sign indicating the bnb.

Everything was wonderful

I would love to come back again at any season because of the serenity and panoramic view was spectacular I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated while watching the calming water and the mountain upon reading my book..we loved the stargazing at night time while dipping to the hot tub. The food was phenomenal too it was served liked in the hotel style and it tasted delicious and fresh.

Superb breakfast each morning and beautiful evening meals. Martin and Verity were fabulous, interesting hosts and made us feel very comfortable. Enjoyed our evening chats with them. Stunning location and enjoyed viewing all of Veritys beautiful artwork.

Absolutely nothing to not like.

This was our best-ever B&B experience. It was the total weekend for us. Absolutely, go and grab the kayaks and head out and explore the harbour, and make sure that you order the 3-course dinner : it was Masterchef! Verity is lovely, and Martin is quite the raconteur
