Bay Villas Balapitiya

We had an incredibly relaxing 4-night stay at Bay Villas on the last leg of our honeymoon trip. The location is absolutely stunning with a perfectly secluded sea view looking west which made for some breathtaking sunsets. The whole villa was beautifully furnished with more than enough space for the two of us. The Bay Villas team who looked after us during our stay were amazing, very welcoming and always on hand for us. They also helped us plan some excursions to do a river safari and to visit the turtle sanctuary. The best part however was the magnificent food! We’ve eaten some truly incredible Sri Lankan food during our two weeks in Sri Lanka, but the food at Bay Villas managed to top it all! Every single meal got a wow from us, and from such a variety of Sri Lankan dishes. They’d always check in with us for what they planned to cook for the next meal and ensured they catered to our dietaries and tastes.

The only small thing which has been mentioned in reviews before is that a kettle in the villa would gladly welcomed for tea and coffee. That being said the team were happy to make us a pot of tea on request, but we did have to pay extra for these.

We went to the place, couldn’t find the entrance as the gates were locked. Called several times but no answer. Then we left for another hotel.

The staff were very welcoming and efficient. Leonard, the manager was very kind and helpful. Suzan made us some lovely meals and Patmos was friendly. All friendly. The room was very spacious, maybe too spacious, we didn’t need all that room for two! The view was amazing and we were able to walk along the beach on one day.

Well, where shall we start! For the money we paid we expected a lot more, for the location it was in and the condition of the property. It wasn’t up to standard. The owners of the property certainly need to carry our some maintenance; Damp on the ceiling in our bedroom and landing which created mould and an overpowering smell. We did inform the manager. There was a major leak on the sink tap in the downstairs shower room. We again mentioned it to the manager and he said it was going to be repaired. Over the 4 days we were there, all that happened was that they added more towels to the leak creating a flooded bathroom and a damp smell making it unusable. There is a need for a fridge and a kettle in the room as these facilities aren’t available. The owners need to read previous reviews too as this has been mentioned many times before. It was very expensive for the standard we received.

The Greeting and easy check-in by Leonard and staff. Wonderful, large and comfortable 2 floor villa with the most amazing views. Beds comfortable and plenty of AC throughout. Leonard amd staff always around if needed and helpful amd thoughtful too. Food and service brilliant.would highly recommend.

When I saw the reviews I was curious because they were just too good. We still tried it for 3 nights and it was even better than we expected and even better than the reviews. It was one of the most wonderful places we have ever been. The room was amazing and had a wonderful big size. The food was delicious!! And I don’t even want to start at the lovely personal there. They were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. This is how a stay should be like. If you don’t believe me, go try it. You will never want to leave. THANK YOU!

We liked everything! The setting overlooking a beautiful private beach, the large, bright tastefully decorated apartment and especially the staff , Leonard the manager and Rukmal, Suzan and Patum the chef who went above and beyond to make our stay special

Everything. It was the best experience we could imagine. A very beautifully furnished villa with a stunning view to wake up to every morning, a paradise of privacy with an empty amazing beach next to you, what could be better? We really enjoyed the wonderful meals for breakfast, lunch and especially dinner each day. Sri Lankan food dinners experience was unforgettable! Don’t hesitate to ask for anything you want and you will get much more that exceed your expectations!

The view of the Indian Ocean was stunning. Spacious living and bedroom. Calm and quiet. Nice pool and friendly staff. The food was delicious.

I would like it if complementary tea or coffee were available. A mini bar would have been more handy.
