The Strand Road Guest House

Staff really welcoming, room was small but clean & adequate for our needs. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was good too. Location was central to village.

The sole reasoning for the low score.....the noise generated from the adjacent room. Paper thin walls. Double room next door taken over for a party of 5 & boy did they not stop. Music, loud voices, toilet extractor fan buzzing all night, constant walking up & down stairs. Never stopped all night. At one point in the evening we believed that the people using the room were actually staff? Not sure if that was the case, but they certainly were using a different set of stairs to what guests normally use. The property has no on-site staff to monitor who comes & goes from the rooms. Our neighbours for the evening took advantage of that. Welcoming in a few friends might not seem like a big deal; but neither of us got any sleep throughout the night. No-one to complain to, so just had to suffer & leave exhausted the next morning. Would I return to stay again? Absolutely not! That's a pity, because the room & facilities were fine for the room cost. Until the owners put in place some sort of monitoring arrangements for who actually stays in the rooms, I'm afraid this scenario will play over again.

Good Food Friendly staff

Room/Staff/Food were very good however we never slept a wink with constant noise! Banging- people drunk outside shouting and swearing - taking barrels out of the cellar - speeding cars racing up and down outside - all this went on till 5am in the morning - we couldn’t wait to get out of there!

We expect some noise but not to the extent we experienced.

Located in a sweet town above an excellent restaurant with great staff and a fun welcoming vibe.

It was a bit tricky to find the spot and it smelled like cooking grease in the hallway but thankfully not in the room!

I know it's obvious but just a note saying where to ask for entry perhaps?! Minor! Thanks
