Barnfields Retreat

Lovely location

Room was great, comfy bed, John was a great host, treats in the room and a lovely breakfast

We just got back from a weekend break here at Barnfields Retreat. If I could rate this more stars I would, John and he’s wife were exceptionally welcoming, it actually felt like they was our friends and not hosts. The room was beyond our expectations, it was clean, cosy and complimentary drinks / chocolates was an added bonus that was very appreciated. Nothing would ever be too much for John and he’s wife, the breakfast was beautifully laid out and they wanted us to feel at home which we definitely did. We have paid double the price we paid here to stay at places that were not even a 1/4 of what this property has to offer. We are planning our next visit with our children next time as we want our children to experience what we did. John calls you on a name basis as if you’re one of he’s friends, you can just tell he enjoys doing this and that is what makes this stay just amazing. If you’re looking at staying somewhere and have stumbled across this review I have written, I urge you to book, you will not be disappointed. Thank you John and your lovely wife. Maddy & Mark.

It was absolutely stunning!

Nothing, everything was brilliant and the staff were lovely and so attentive

Didn’t have breakfast so do not know what it was like left early

The room didn’t look as it had been cleaned for our stay cobwebs and old rag stuffed behind toilet all mirrors were not cleaned windows were not cleaned and balcony had cobwebs and bathroom door didn’t close properly and there was no hot water by 8am so could not get ready for breakfast so left early

The property was beautiful. John and his wife were very welcoming. Definitely be going back. Loved the rise and chocolate on the bed and complementary soft drinks in fridge

Wow, where do I begin. Stayed here for 1 night and absolutely surprised at what John & Elizabeth had to offer. The bedroom was beautiful and very clean and comfortable, we had our own private front room and ensuite and separate restroom. I've uploaded photos as my description of the place will not do it justice, just a shame booking. Come will only allow 4 photos. The welcoming was so warm and like other guests have said you leave with affection for John & Elizabeth they felt like friends rather than just owners. Minty the dog was so adorable and friendly, what a wonderful life he has. The grounds were stunning with horses in the field. Love the way that Elizabeth put her culture into the place (gave me lots of ideas for my dining room) Thank you John & Elizabeth, we will be back. Debbie & Tony x
