"Overall I’m happy with the stay, the staff were very friendly. The location is quite close to Myoko town and the room wa"

6.0

The staff were really friendly and accommodating, a shout out to Tannah and Nat, thank you. The room was spacious and cozy and had heating. They cook breakfast for you every morning. They also offer lifts to the other mountains.

The showers were shared, which is expected in Japan, there was no working Heater in the bathroom, which was uncomfortable. It would have been nice to have a mirror in the room. Also the mattress was quite hard and hurt my hips. The location is okay, a bit of a walk up a steep hill to get to Myoko town.

"Good value for money option"

6.0

- the ladies who run this accomodation are completely lovely - the option to have the van pick up and drop you off at other mountains was extremely convenient (as opposed to the public shuttle bus) - nice being a little further away from the hustle and bustle - bedrooms clean and comfortable

- when reading the reviews and booking, I thought there would be a more substantial breakfast. This accomodation has recently changed hands and now the breakfast is white toast and apples. Not too bad, just not what we expected. - the shower room (one open shower room for all women in the lodge) could have done with a more regular clean. Every time I went in there was lots of hair (shaving and head) everywhere which was slightly off putting. The shower rooms was generally a little dirty.

The morning ski lift transfers and friendliness of staff. Nice cooked breakfast.

No mattress protector and bed sheet didn’t fit the bed. Doona too small. Hot tub stopped working and wasn’t repaired.

"Facilities don’t equal the number of guests Breakfast failed to reach advertised description"

3.0

The two Aussie girl Natalie and Tanner really tired hard Shuttle service was great and easy to use

Not enough dining room seating for the amount of people staying there Drying room was unorganised overcrowded The breakfast were always late and no advertised hot food except hot boiled eggs on one day Breakfast area was too small for the number of people staying there Small amount of fruit not enough for everyone Lounge only had seating for 4-5 people Manager wasn’t enjoying her job and this transferred to the guests comfort We picked this accommodation from previous reviews and it now doesn’t match those reviews The standards have dropped

"Has potential but needs improvement"

4.0

I don’t have many positives about my stay here but the shuttle service offered to and from the ski resorts was a huge bonus I had not expected. Also Nat and Tannah were the most delightful and helpful hosts. The lodge is lucky to have them as our stay would have been far less enjoyable without them!

On arrival we were first told there was no hot water and it could be up to 2 days before water was back on. We were told to shower at the Taiko onsen (10 min walk away and 1,100 yen per person!) without any offer to be reimbursed for this extra cost. Further, we were supposed to have a single bed and a futon in our room but my partner was given a very hard tatami mat to sleep on for 7 nights, he may as well have slept on the floor. After complaining he was given a second mat to stack on top but it was still rock hard. Breakfast was toast with jam or cereal.. some days there was fruit other days there was none. It was uninspiring and disappointing after the glowing reviews about the amazing food when the previous owners still managed the lodge. Last but not least the French Manager Marina was cold and unapproachable. We felt uncomfortable to ask her for help and when we did she was completely uninterested and unhelpful. Thank god for Nat and Tannah who were both so happy to help with a smile on their faces. Those girls deserve an award!

"Comfortable Japanese style accomodation nicely located to Akakura."

7.0

First season for new owners who were keen to ensure a great guest experience by making positive changes. Friendly staff who were willing to drive guests to resorts in the lodge minibus. Bath/spa on ground level was a bonus.

Tatami mats in a family room can be a challenge, so western families should be prepared (it’s crowded and very limited storage). Some of the bedding and equipment is a little dated, but expect new owners to gradually upgrade.

Nat and Tannah were the best, they helped with slope knowledge, cooking our eggs we bought (breakfast was so poor) transport….. without these two girls the stay would have been horrible.

The French manager was rude and lazy!
