The winding stairs to the third floor. And the kitchen drawer wouldn’t close.

The view from the pool really is nice. The pool would be amazing if it was heated but it’s slightly cooler than outside temp. Room layout

A couple of things that didn’t sit right: The stairs are not a joke. We counted 90 steps from the street to our room on the second floor. I’m not a slouch, but it’s pretty demanding the first couple of times. Not accessible to any disabled, any elderly, etc. The room layout was nice and spacious, but the stench of mold fuming from the bathroom and its closest closet was a horrible hazard that we went through the first days of the stay. There is not enough ventilation in the restroom that has the tiniest fan that is filled with mold around itself. We told the staff and they sent a maintenance team to look into the issue. They deemed that the solution was to clean the walls and paint over it. The smell of paint masked the mold for a bit before the smell of it came back. We kept the windows to the room open the entire rest of the trip. Also, ants, very tiny to tiny ants everywhere in the room. Bugs are bothersome at times but not something we’re unaccustomed to in Mexico. Since we stayed away of the mold smell we did not think to take pictures of the walls before they painted over. The sink in the bathroom however was not cleaned and some remained.

The Pros: Excellent shower, fridge/freezer, air conditioning. Adequate eating and cooking utensils. Comfortable bath towels, linens, pillows, mattresses. Modern facility decently maintained to date. Secure gated/locked entrance. Good check-in instructions. Tourist area, Grocery store, taxis, buses, restaurants etc. within easy walking distance. Neighborhood was typically quiet and safe. Spectacular roof-top view. The Inconveniences: no toaster or kitchen sink plug. Room safe was closed and locked on our arrival - maintenance opened it so we could set our code. No "blackout curtain" in 2nd bedroom. Common area's small soaking-pool had a greenish tinge. We never did find the laundry facilities. The Cons: The hotel is tucked up the side of a hill with only walking access from the street below (107 steps) or above (56 steps). We typically walked the 107 steps 3 times a day and found them inconvenient & tiring. There is only a virtual office with periodic on-site presence of housekeeping or maintenance staff . Communication with the MONYXBnB (via Hotels.com) initially was quickly responded to by the "Virtual Office", but eventually we were not receiving any responses to queries. To us, the identified cons are significant, so we would not return to the MONYXBnB. But everyone has different expectations/requirements. These "cons" might not be of concern to other readers.

Really nice spot, lovely view, close to the beach and center.

There was coffee but no coffee filers, so we couldn't make coffee. Kitchen could use a few more tools for basics like for breakfast.

decent size place, very private

location is bit hard to find and involves quite a few steep stairs to climb, traveller tip, take a cab to Barcelona tapas and take the second set of stairs up from there. It took quite a while to figure out how the key to get into the suite fit into the lock.

Views are wonderful

Long steep hike uphill from road, then a spiral staircase to the 4th floor. The 4th floor room is next to the pool but is small with a ladder to a loft bed we couldn't use as we are in our 70s

great bed! spectacular views and great location.

lots of stairs so be prepared to get into shape. also the pool water didn't look clean so we didn't enter it. otherwise its a lovely place to stay
