XAMANA Holbox

We booked based on location, which is FALSE on Bookings, a bit of a scam. There is no indication of these apartments on Google Maps so pretty impossible to find. We had sent a message on Bookings looking for the exact location before we arrived on Holbox, we did not get a response. Luckily, or perhaps not so luckily, my wife speaks Spanish and we had a Mexican sim card. We had to call the contact number and talk to someone 3 times, due to bad directions, before we were successfully in our room, after dragging our bags up and down the filthy road in the heat. It is a pretty long walk if you have big bags. The road to this place was muddy for the 4 days that we were here in spite of very little rain. If you did not have a phone and speak Spanish, I don't know how you would find it. This place seems to go by different names, I wonder why. It is Xamana on Google maps. There is no sign outside, and barely even an entrance gate. The room itself was spacious. However, it smelt of concrete, or something like this, which was very unpleasant. There is a little balcony, looking out on a smelly swamp. There was also a couch that was absolutely disgusting, it looked like they picked it up on the side of the road somewhere, we couldn't sit on it, and a coffee machine that was filthy. We weren't greeted by anyone and didn't meet anyone until they came looking for money. They also added additional charges, more "taxes". It is very EXPENSIVE for the service you get.

Really spacious apartments in a good location. The rooftop area was lovely too.

The pool could be cleaned more regularly and the Aircon wasn't really powerful enough to get the room really cold but it did a decent job given how large the room is.
