"Exceptional"

10.0

Loved the chill vibe of the property… fun, attentive staff, and remarkably delicious food! Afternoon swims, morning visits by scarlet macaws, and so much more. Comfortable room and bed, good WiFi and a/c. Deep tropical rainforest feel, ten minutes drive from the ruins. Authentic, and respectful.

My famiky and I enjoyed our stay. The hosts are very nice and I wish we could have spent more time with them. The food is really good and the overall vibe of the place feels like your a guest in their home.

"Nice place, rude owner"

4.0

The place in itself isn't bad : clean rooms (in the main building, don't know about the cabañas) although you will see lots of insects ; the only shower (for 5 rooms) is a little rusty but offers a steady stream of hot water; the pool is large and clean; and the location is nice, although you will pay more than 100$ in taxi every time you go to town or to the ruins (no collectivo gets there). The breakfast was good but it was served 30min late, despite the staff insisting on our punctuality. The staff in general was nice and helpful, but the owner (?) Carlos quickly revealed passive-aggressive and greedy. He repeatedly asked who gave us the permission to do things that his staff offered (like... our laundry, for instance) in a rude way, and ended up threatening us for questioning the final bill (a recurring problem it seems). Given all the bad comments about him and his wife, it seems clear that dressing like a cliché hippie doesn't make you one...

"If only the sun had come out!!!"

8.0

We stayed here for 2 nights . We arrived in a downpour which lasted without relief until we left so unfortunately this coloured the stay. The accommodation is fine but a bit tired. For example the shower was heavily discoloured with copper sulphate stains. There is no A/C which was academic for us as we really needed some heat to dry out. Wewere soaked several times but the hotel was liberal with brollies thank goodness. There was no wardrobe to hang clothes either. Limited toiletries. Insufficient pillows. All eating is al fresco and there is no choice but what we had was home made and very good. It really is more of a B & B than a hotel but none the worse for that. The hosts are welcoming and helpful. It is difficult to find. Our satnav had packed up and there is no sign at the junction with the main road. There really needs to be. My only regret was that the weather stopped me birdwatching otherwise we enjoyd ourseles thoroughly and recommend it

"Great hosts! Yummy food!"

10.0

Some friends and I just traveled to Palenque for a relaxing, week-long nature-filled yoga retreat at El Colombre. Nadiafna and Adriana were terrific hosts! Adriana's cooking was AMAZING. I especially enjoyed the fresh bread, variety of homemade local jams, and fresh fruit for breakfast. Her tasty, hearty vegetarian dinners were just what we needed after long days, filled with yoga with Nadiafna, amazing hidden ancient ruins and waterfalls, guided walks in the magical jungle, and swims in the pool. My palapa was private, clean, and simple with a beautiful thatched roof and views of the nature-filled property. Also, I loved reading in the hammock next to Gorda, the yellow lab, and the family of iguanas sunning themselves on the pool deck. Overall, we enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to extend our time in Palenque. Gracias!

"A little pause in the middle of the jungle !"

10.0

In the middle of the jungle, we enjoyed the quietness of the place, the bungalow and the swimming pool. A perfect place to stay between the palenque ruinas and the city. The manager is very welcoming and we had a great morning yoga course with her. Bungalows are simple and clean. If you re looking for a place in the middle of the nature, simple, quiet and with good breakfast ! Do not hesitate this is THE place ! Thanks to the team, and wish you the best !
