The Historic General Stanton Inn

So happy as an annual visitor to the area to see new life breathed into this historic inn. Stayed in the more modern section in updated rooms with pastel beach colors, AC , ceiling fan and tv. The restaurant served delicious food , and the service is warm and welcoming. Only wish there had been a mini fridge or a common guest fridge since there was no where to bring any leftovers from dinner. Coolers with ice are available but not really practical for bringing anything along for a breakfast since none is served and there’s nothing within walking distance. Would definitely stay again however. A great addition for lodging that is more upscale than what is otherwise available in the area if not renting a beach house

Clean room, comfy bed, hot shower. We had 4 quiet nights of sleep. Convenient for tourists.

Room needs a fridge. The rooms are small, even those in the new wing. VERY expensive. Costs as much as the Ritz Carleton in Bali.

The inn and restaurant were wonderful. I probably had the best hot lobster roll I’ve ever eaten. The water pressure in the shower was amazing and the beds were very comfortable. Only issues were we found a dirty sock on the floor in room 6, and when we went downstairs for coffee at 7am, there was no sugar and not enough creamer. Also, before dinner we went outside to sit on the 2nd floor deck, but quickly discovered that the area under the deck is where the smokers hang out. So it was a little unpleasant. All were minor things and won’t deter us from staying and/or eating there again!

Room in building outside (No 14) very overpriced. Some of it due to it being a holiday weekend and it being a historical site. I understand the rooms inside the inn however, the rooms in the back are like motel rooms. A few little things, toilet seat crooked, etc.

Just lovely! Beautiful and quaint. Rhode Island is a wonderful place to visit, staying here made it perfect! Love the history behind this gem.

It was very peaceful and comfortable it felt like home .

The only thing that I didn't like was the TV it was too small it was hard to watch from our beds

We had a nice stay at General Stanton. It’s a very cool old Inn with lots of character and was very clean. We checked in after hours so did not interact with any staff except over the phone but the remote check in process was still easy and we had no issues. Was a convenient and affordable stay for a concert in Matunuck.
