Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa

Pros: Very clean and Modern. Comfortable Bed and Pillows. Hotel is conveniently located right next to a massive mall for an amazing shopping. Large in suite mini fridge. Also facilities to do your own clothes washing at the spa Level. Also fifteen minute walk to the beach. Half hour walk to historical district. Cons: very family friendly with lots of kids…especially at the pool, which might be great for families but not for a couple seeking peace and quiet. Pool was not very large or heated and has limited day time Sun due to shadow of other towers. We also had to ask for housekeeping after being out all day and the room was not yet cleaned, but this was likely due to it being New Years Day, so not a reflection on the staff that were working but rather in management for not staffing appropriately. Shout out to Patrice at the front desk for her very friendly, courteous, professional service. Her small kind gesture made the world of a difference to us.

SERIOUS issues encountered during our stay that marred our precious vacation time. Check in process was a NIGHTMARE- believe the other reviews. The rooms are NOT ready by 3pm, the staff routinely lie and over promise while under delivering. Also NO TOWELS?? Why are towels not placed near the pool and only at the spa? What happens when guests go into the water and realize that there are NO TOWELS and that the next availability is in an HOUR?? The spa attendant informed the very long line of annoyed guests that there was NOT ONE towel in the entire hotel available. Seriously?? Also, expect horrible, impolite check in staff. They don’t care, if the rooms are not ready too bad, so sad. Believe the other reviews!

The property was clearly understaffed, though no fault of the staff. Additionally, the staff was clearly poorly trained at their position. The concierge mumbled their explanations, the bellhop was doubling as the valet, and our rooms weren’t ready for more than 2 hours after our check in time. The restaurant was closed at night for lack of staff with no previous warning, and the front of house for the restaurant was doubling as bus boys in the morning. When we called the concierge to get our luggage after checking in, no one answered until the phone just went to a busy signal and we had to just wait and repeatedly try again until we were able to get our luggage delivered to our room. Literally the worst service I’ve had with any hotel in my entire 40 years of life. I’m sure these things would change when properly staffed or maybe outside the holiday season, but this was my experience and it was HORRIBLE. I could not recommend this to anyone.

Seems under staffed. Two nights of the stay our room was not cleaned. In room phone didn’t work, and had to actually call with my phone to the 800# to connect to front desk. Had to remind them twice for towels and toilet paper.

Great property location for shopping. Room facilities excellent

Definitely will come back again.

Amazing stay! Mara is some of the best dining I have ever experienced in my life time! Next time we are in Hawai’i we will be back.
