Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa

We booked the Renaissance Honolulu Hotel through Luxury Escapes. We usually stay in Waikiki but thought it would be nice to break up our stay and stay near Ala Moana shopping centre. Location: The Renaissance Hotel is in a great location. Ala Moana shopping centre is across the road, Walmart is the next block behind the hotel, and the hotel is in walking distance to the Ward Centre, and conveniently located near the main bus stops. We caught a Lyft from the airport to the hotel, it cost $18.99 USD. The hotel has a lovely pool area with a family pool, 2 hot tubs and lap pool, and also a gym. There is a shuttle service available and departs every hour or two, the shuttle goes to Ala Moana Mall, Magic Island and Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. Hotel: On check in we were upgraded from an ocean view room to a premier ocean view room. Our room was on level 16, however I think the view would be more amazing on the higher levels, and probably would be able to see the Hilton fireworks on the higher levels. The room was large and the bathroom was very big. Complimentary amenities are available upon request, this included robes, slippers, shower caps, shaving kits, dental kits, vanity kits. The room has a fridge, a kettle and coffee pod machine. The only negative about the room was the lack of hot water in the bathroom. Everytime we showered the water was luke warm or cold. We never had hot water, which was disappointing. Breakfast: As part of our package we had breakfast included at the MARA Restaurant, which was an interesting experience. The restaurant is located in the hotel, the food was nice but the service was very slow and hit and miss. Some staff were standing around not doing much and others were run off their feet. The whole week we stayed there they never had Englush Breakfast tea, and one morning it took us 1.5 hours for breakfast. When we were seated, we waited up to 10-15 minutes to be served. The inefficiency and lack of consistency was frustrating every morning.

The property is new and nice. Very close to Ala Moana mall. But sadly the front desk staff are rude and not very friendly. They are not accommodating at all. It’s hard to get connected to in room dining and sometimes you have to call for housekeeping. I wouldn’t go back to this property because of the front desk staff.

I enjoyed my stay during 1/25-1/27. The Hotel was clean, updated and very convenient for the location. I had a few issues with the check in process, room service and the fire alarm going off at the early morning hours. I hope my next stay here will be a little better

Property is new, clean, modern, and very comfortable. Spa, gym, and pool areas are fantastic! Close to Ala Moana mall and Ala Moana beach which is nice and not anywhere as crowded as Waikiki. Major issue is service and room cleaning - there seems to be a lack of communication and standard procedures from management, so lots of confusion amongst staff (different people having different answers for things). A few issues: - Trying to book spa treatments ahead of arrival via phone was very difficult. Booking online is fine, but I had a few questions regarding party size and applying expedia discounts that they could not answer over the phone. You cannot book spa treatments by calling the spa, they told me you need to do it through Concierge, but when I called the front desk they did not know where to direct me. Very disorganized and unhelpful. - Quality of front desk staff is hit or miss. Again, I think management needs to do more training and have more standard procedures for everything including breakfast vouchers, resort fee allowances, etc. - There doesn't seem to be a good understanding of all the different promotions/credits/vouchers between the hotel, restaurant staff, spa staff. - Room cleaning service is not thorough in terms of replenishing items. While the cleaning is fine itself, there would be shortage of towels, or random things missing day to day (lotion, paper cups for coffee, etc). There was one day where we didn't receive any service at all.

The location was good The hotel itself was a little disappointing. There was no phone in the room to communicate with front desk or services. To order room service, I had to dial from my phone and food not only didn't come in 30 minutes as promised but 90 minutes later. The burger that I ordered was cold and my orange juice and mayonnaise was not delivered with the food but did come 30 minutes later. I was not able to eat much of the burger since it was cold although the fries were nice and hot.

Hotel wqs awesome. The customer service was great. Food and drink options at the hotel was small but delicious. It's close to other restaurants and shopping

It’s a very convenient location right next to a Walmart. I was there to play soccer with a team from Chicago so I was able to grab supplies quickly before games and didn’t have to pay resort prices, would stay there again for sure.

I liked the bed, the view and the large soaking tub. However, we had a snooty front desk person at check in. We had just gotten off an 8 hour flight. The fire alarm went off because they had the water kettle underneath it. We couldnt reach the feont desk, there was no onw there. We tried to order breakfast through thwir app, qhich we found out, was broken. We had broken phones and were unable to reach the kitchen. The shower handle fell off in our hand. They forgot our drinks. It was the second worse stay we have ever had, only behind finding mold and bugs in a room in WA. I dont recommend, especially for the cost. Choose an older hotel with better management.

The rooms were fantastic, beds are super comfortable . Little bit away from Waikiki but this is a great location for shopping and the hotel provides a shuttle to travel to Waikiki . Great food trucks within walking distance . Staff are extremely attentive and friendly .
