Villa Porta Maestra

FANTASTIC! Location, location, location. We were in Hvar for the first time and it couldn't be better. From the first moment when we met a host who waited for us in the harbor and after a 2 min walk we’re inside of the museum!! This is a unique breathtaking place, not just a simple accommodation. Our apartment was on the second floor, a real small flat with anything you need to stay longer, modern kitchen, nice sofa.. but balcony was the best.

Wow!!! What to say, we need to come back asap. Obviously, they didn’t spare on anything when renovating this heritage place, even Dyson hair dryer in my room. Overall unbelievable experience, attention to detail, but, BUT location is outstanding, you can’t be closer to anything then this. The view from the balcony was perfect, drinking coffee and looking at sea and boats, and then it takes you one minute to be standing in front of the boats. Awesome experience Bad thing is we couldn't stay longer. :)

Superb!! Simply great. Old historic villa but everything new inside, perfect location. I liked the mattress, need to buy the same for my home. Even a small book room was helpful, a lot of interesting books there at your disposal. During the night it’s better to keep the windows and shutters closed because sometimes during the night you hear drunk people outside but if it’s closed it’s ok. We were given electric scooters to use for free and it was great, you reach the beach within minutes and you can park it anywhere. Breakfast is nice, worth it, Natalia is a very nice lady.

Amazing, speechless for this history and the whole story around this villa. Hvar is beautiful, but this accommodation made the experience much better. We’re here for the first time and this place was the perfect choice, the location is right in the center, you cannot miss this place, even tourists were coming to check the house since it’s on the list of Hvar heritage. We were given free parking which is 200m away, but they waited for us at the entrance and helped with the luggage. Nice and calm, no noise from outside even if it's so close to piazza.

Perfect location, professional service, and high-end accommodations. Very happy we stayed there and we’ll definitely be back. Such a lovely place!!

Beautiful. We were two couples and this duplex apartment was the great choice, the two bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, everything new and plenty of space.. even kitchen can be regularly used, and you don’t need rush out for some food options, you can prepare anything you want. I liked the stairs very much, piece of art. The view to the harbor from the balcony is amazing, you are so close but still protected from the noise. The history of this villa is amazing, and anyone from the street can come in and check it out. I like the bed, best sleep ever. Definitely staying there again.

It would be good if there was a cable tv in the bedrooms, not just in the living room

We had an apartment on the first floor. It wasn't your standard rental property - far from it. This place was built and equipped with style and class, and you could feel it in every nook and corner. Even though we didn't have a view from our apartment, it didn't take away from the experience one bit. Just a quick 20-step walk and we were standing in the main piazza, taking in the jaw-dropping beauty of Hvar. The kids found their sleeping spot on the living room sofa to be quite comfortable and roomy. It was the perfect place for them to relax after long days out. One of the highlights of our stay was learning about the villa's history from the super-friendly lady Stefani at the front desk. Turns out this place is on the Hvar heritage list, which only added to its charm. All in all, this villa was nothing short of a homerun for us. It's the kind of place that makes you feel at home while also giving you a slice of luxury. We can't wait to pack our bags and head back there. So, if you're looking for a spot with history, comfort, and a touch of class, don't look past this villa. We couldn't recommend it more!

Great!! What a location, it simply can’t be better. Seating at the balcony in the evening was the best experience but during the day can be hot I guess. Bed was amazing, but I tried pillow menu, I had a lavender pillow and its just a perfect match for Hvar. Breakfast was also superb. The cost is 15eur per person and it’s really a good deal. They serve it outside in the garden of villa Nora which is just a few steps away in the street. They offer only homemade stuff, from vegetables to bread and sweat pies which impressed me the most

Amazing! Perfect!!! We booked the whole villa at the very last moment and we didn’t really imagine that this is a real cultural heritage place, in the heart of the town, simply stunning experience, everything was perfect from the beginning to the end. They allowed us to enter the room much before regular check in, every single detail in the room and the whole villa is beautiful, comfortable, new beds, lighting, stone walls, view to Hvar marina and fortress.. We were told that the renovation of this middle age villa lasted 5 years and it is probably the best stay ever in Hvar, you can’t find such places anywhere else. We must come again but for longer, this was too short. The ground floor with Romain mosaic and floor heating system is dated from ancient time, something like 2000 years old, really something unique you cannot see around while we slept there, unbelievable. Also, the balcony at the 2nd floor just above the old gate and overlooking piazza is unique, you can feel the history there and just sitting there with a glass of wine is enough, you don’t need to go out. The owner helped us a lot the last day when we missed the catamaran boat, so he offered us a ride with his speed boat to Split airport since he was planning to go there anyway so didn’t want to take any money for that.
