"Exceptional"

10.0

Very tidy and modernised for a 2 star hotel. Small breakfast area but well stocked. Self serve process after hours didn't work, but call centre solved issue quickly.

"Well located for a one night stopover, basic but cheap."

6.0

This is a pretty standard Ibis Budget hotel which (in my room at least) has been refreshed fairly recently with a new paint job. Arrived late so checked in through a machine. Room clean and warm. Basic but all you need for a night. What was less impressive was the crowd of teens running up and down until 1am slamming doors and shouting. Once they had finished I had a good sleep. Plenty of parking, excellent location right by the Channel Tunnel. Didn’t have breakfast here and no interactions with staff.

"Cheap stop = unhelpful check in staff"

4.0

The hotel is convenient and reasonably cheap for an overnight stay before or after travelling on the tunnel. It’s starting to look extremely tired with the floors and walls in the rooms looking marked and worn. We only had one towel in a room for 3 people & nobody around to get anymore. The automated check in works very well, there only seems to be a problem when staff are there to check you in, like a couple of previous posters, the staff tried to get us to pay again for the room, stating that their system didn’t show our payment, they were adamant about it even though we were able to show the email proof from Accor that the room was prepaid and the payment going out of our bank. There was huge reluctance by the staff member to sort it out, with them constantly stating it wasn’t their fault and there was nothing they could do to sort it out that we just had to pay, they were also reluctant to contact a manager, eventually they did and after us forwarding the confirmation email and a screen shot of the bank payment we were issued with room codes, no apologises despite it being their mistake. There is a serious need for some customer service training for certain members of staff at this hotel. Breakfast if wanted is continental buffet style and costs 6.5 euro, they have decent COVID measures in place with each guest being allocated individual tongs. The staff member on duty at breakfast time was really helpful and friendly, a totally different experience to the staff member from the previous night. If you stay here, come prepared with a printout of your booking and proof of payment or just use the online check in or auto check in.

"Good place to stay"

8.0

Very handy place to stay - very close to the Eurotunnel and Cite Europe. The rooms are clean and more than adequate for an overnight stay. Efficient and friendly staff and lots of free secure parking. Ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you want a quieter visit.

"Dirty, smelly & noisy, avoid at all costs!!"

2.0

This is absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, the room was basic but smelt of feet and old cigarettes complete with black mould growing in the corner of the room!!! The mirror had toothpaste stains on the opposite side of the mirror to the sink & there were some questionable stains in the corner of the bathroom!! All of the above being said the worst part was THE NOISE! You can hear everyone around you all night moving around, walking up the stairs and shutting doors. There’s not a manned 24 hour check in desk so all night I could hear people ringing the out of hours helpline for assistance using the machine. Honestly save your money and stay elsewhere, this is absolutely the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. As this hotel is unmanned I wasn’t able to speak to anyone to express the above at check out so I would appreciate someone getting in contact with me as this is completely unacceptable.

"Good Value But"

8.0

I was surprised at the breakfast arrangements. I understand being served from the buffet, but not why we then had to take the tray to our room to eat. With vaccination certificates it’s normal in France to be able to sit in a restaurant or cafe, so why not the breakfast area of the Ibis?

"A Shabby Hotel"

4.0

A budget Ibis, so if you have stayed in one you know what to expect. The layout of the rooms and the way the place works are all broadly the same in my experience. This particular example was pretty shabby. I had a room on the third floor. The corridor carpet looked dirty and it appeared that the skirting around the bottom of the walls had been removed. The room was reasonably clean, but fixtures and fittings were loose and coming off the wall. The strap that secured the window from opening too far was missing, which could under certain circumstances be considered dangerous. The outside of the building also looked shabby and dirty and in need of a repaint, if not a full refurbishment. All in all not one of Accor's best

"Noisy and tired."

4.0

I stayed with my daughter last Thursday night. The room looked grubby and tired although the bedding was clean. Staff were pleasant. However the reason I will never stay there again was the noise. A group of around 20 young people of mixed origin were holding a party in the corridor outside our door until the early hours of the morning. We got no sleep and felt frightened and intimidated especially when one of them banged on our door. There is no phone in the room and no staff in reception after 10pm. Consequently no security to appeal to. We felt very alone. Never again!

"Good location, basic, not cheap"

4.0

Second time we’ve stayed here, last time was in January when we weren’t impressed, so why are we back? Simply because it’s the cheapest bed for the night before an early morning Eurotunnel train back to the UK. Yes it’s very conveniently located for the Tunnel but that’s about it’s only plus point. Rooms are minuscule - our motor home has almost as much space - with basic furnishings - cheap laminate flooring, tiny counter/work area, a few coat hangers, small tv (French only), no aircon, no tea/coffee making facilities and in a room for 3 there was one “seat” which seemed to resemble a large plant pot. To be fair - the room was clean and the included wifi worked fine. However, the unique selling point of this Ibis Budget is that it doubles up as a hostel for the Police Nationale. The car park is rammed with police vans and trucks and even a few inflatable boats. With so many police in and around the hotel this should be the safest Ibis anywhere. At 58€ this place isn’t “budget” - we’ve stayed in much nicer and cheaper Ibis Budget hotels and it’s no where near Travelodge or Premier Inn standards. So, if all you need is somewhere next door to the Tunnel and aren’t too bothered about creature comforts then this will do for a one night stop over.

"Convenient location, basic, overpriced and tired."

4.0

Stayed here as it’s convenient for an early morning Eurotunnel departure but that is the only advantage. Accommodation is ok but minimal - in a room designed to accommodate 3 there’s one seat which resembles a large upended plastic plant pot, the floor is cheap laminate “wood”, no tea/coffee facilities etc. Bedding was clean but the room wasn’t - there was a large, grubby small child’s cot which we’d not requested which took up a fair bit of the limited floor space, the plastic stool was stained, the toilet brush was on borrowed time, various suspicious marks on walls but this is probably as good as it gets in cheap chain hotels. Whilst the facilities were budget, the price wasn’t - at 57€ this was more expensive the other, much better Ibis Budget hotels we’ve stayed at. Looks like Ibis are trying to capitalise on location. Whilst we were there the hotel was being used as a temporary hostel for a large - judging by the number of cars, vans and wagons in the area park - contingent of the Police Nationale so you and your vehicle should be absolutely safe here! Conclusion - excellent location for Eurotunnel, basic accommodation, not cheap
