Cat Ba Paradise Hotel - Sky Bar & Massage

The hotel itself offered a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful also. Good location. Breakfast was limited, but still nice.

This is no fault of the hotel; however, there is building work happening across the road, which is an ongoing project for the next five years to build more hotels and beaches. Unfortunately, a big selling point of this hotel is the amazing views, which we had been expecting. As such, we were a little disappointed that the views were disrupted as we were not aware of this beforehand. That said, the hotel is still very nice and I would recommend staying here in Cat Ba.

The view from the room and rooftop swimming pool was very nice. The room is clean.

I had the absolute worse sleep at this hotel. There is a thermostat in the room to control the temperature. It keeps defaulting back to 31 degrees Celsius every hour or so despite us setting it much lower multiple times. As a result, we kept waking up from the temperature fluctuations. When we complained about it in the morning, we were told someone would come to check, but noone came. When I complained at the desk when checking out, I was simply asked to write down my email and phone number so that someone would follow up. It has now been 13 hours and I have yet to hear back. In addition, the clerk at the desk charged me extra money on my credit card in error and ended up refunding me in Vietnamese Dong cash. They are filling the waterfront in front of the hotel with sand to extend the land. The view is affected since the water is much farther away. There is no hand soap and the spout for the shampoo was broken. The bedside lights did not turn on.

The staff was extremely helpful with planning our trip. We are very grateful for that.

The view is not like on the pictures. There’s construction going on in the bay (and will be for a long time since they are building new city on the bay - you can google that. Other than that the hotel is pretty old so don’t expect much. The breakfast was not that great - mostly dinner type of dishes.

The pool at the top floor was nice, eapecially because you can not „use“ the beach that is right in front of the Hotel right now. Staff at the pool was also very nice.

The room smelled funky, I think it came from the ventilation. Right now in Cat Ba there is construction going on everywhere, especially in the bay, where ships are working 24/7 and you can hear that.

We stayed at Paradise Hotel in October, in a King Room with Sea View. The main disappointment was that the Sea View turned out to be a “construction site view”, due to a major development in the bay of the Cat Ba town. There was no warning of this during booking. Also the Sky Bar features the same awful view, combined with the noise. The construction works don’t stop even at night. I read the past reviews carefully, and it’s very hard to believe that very recent mentions of “rooftop pool over the beach” are genuine: the beach was never visible from the hotel, and now it can’t be a pleasant view. I don’t have a clue about the construction schedule, but I expect such a major project will last several months if not years. After discovering all this, I asked to shorten the stay to 1 night, but the receptionist refused because she said she needed to talk to the manager that will only be tomorrow, and then we had morning tours planned, so checking out last minute was uncomfortable, so we abandoned the plan. Breakfast was pretty poor: I didn’t find anything tasty, but they make a fried egg for you. Staff was polite, but they couldn't solve the problem of cleaning staff insistently knocking on the door despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign. The hotel has an electronic system to set “Do Not Disturb” and we used it, but the cleaning staff ignored it anyway. I asked for a good old paper sign at the reception and was told it is not possible. Overall it was an unpleasant stay, not terrible, but our worst experience during a two weeks trip in Vietnam. Considering quality to price ratio, it was terrbible.

Large bed, great ocean views!! The rooftop bar and pool are amazing for an early morning swim and sunset drinks! Great location for activities around Cat Ba
