Unique Club at Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort

A one stop shop, so to speak; Staff were courteous friendly and utterly professional. Facilities are exceptional. Must make a point of going back so I can get to use more of them! 10/10 from me

Unless you are wealthy or disabled, you’re not getting a sun-bed unless you ‘reserve’ one against the hotel policy and risk losing your towels. Been here 4 days now and every day have struggled to get a bed. Lots of reserved beds with untouched towels, even later on in the day and lots of broken parasols too. The App where you can make suggestions and find out about things is a waste of time as they took two days to even read the comments left. This is a 5 star hotel, but only if you can afford the ‘Unique’ orange towel status where you have an abundance of sunbeds. Waited ages to afford to come here, very disappointed, won’t be back. Same issue at sister hotel Villa del Conde just up the road so clearly same management not matting effectively. I’d expect this in Benidorm, but not here!

Excellent location right on the seafront and just 500 meters from the long sandy beach. Very large hotel with 5 swimming pools. Beautiful, large, and lush green gardens with several pool bars for food and drinks. Lovely suites with a good, wide bed. Everything is kept very clean and tidy, including the areas around the pools, pool bars, toilets, etc. Very friendly staff. Special thanks to Juani from the Toscana restaurant and Zioli from the pool bar. Both are exceptional people! Tip: If you want a true 5-star experience, you should book the "Unique Service", which includes a separate breakfast at the Toscana restaurant and access to a quieter pool. I can highly recommend this. The only downside to the hotel is the main restaurant, for two reasons: 1. The dark atmosphere: Despite previous reviews and criticisms, this is still a disappointment. While the restaurant itself is nicely decorated, the issue lies with the black-painted ceilings and only a faint light here and there. Please, remove those rope decorations and finally replace them with LED lights. That would make a world of difference. 2. The food quality: Not all dishes are up to par; sometimes they are undercooked or lacking flavor, perhaps due to the high workload? It can indeed get very busy, but that is to be expected in a hotel with 1,136 rooms. Therefore, it would be better if the other restaurants (the ones not included in the half-board package) could absorb some of this workload. Alternatively, you could book breakfast-only and simply pay to eat at the other restaurants

We are a young couple who booked this holiday to reward and to celebrate ourselves after finishing our university degrees, we booked this hotel as we have been before and had a great time. Firstly the greeting we had when checking in was an instant disappointment as it was simply transactional, no friendly welcome just “surname”, “passports”, “here’s your key and room number”. We did not let this affect us as our flight was late and we assumed the receptionist had a long day. We chose half board however in hotels we have stayed in before you usually have your breakfast and your lunch OR your breakfast and your dinner and whichever you don’t have you pay for. This isn’t possible in this hotel (which is not explained at check in), if you want to go else where for your dinner you will also have to find somewhere for your lunch too. To me this isn’t half board this is bed and breakfast if you choose to have a nice meal outside of the hotel. At dinner time it took ages to get anyone’s attention for drinks and on multiple occasions we ordered drinks and they were then forgotten about and we had to reorder, accompanied by not much of an apology. Plates were left to stack up and we witnessed other guests having to move plates they had finished with onto other tables to make room. The buffet is supposedly open till 21:30, however at 20:30 most of the salad and small plate bar is cleared away which is disappointing when you want to wait till later on to eat to avoid the rush. My partner became unwell on the last few days of our holiday. As check out is at 12pm and our flight on our last day wasn’t until 21:00 I asked if we could pay to keep the room (as we did our previous time in the hotel), the staff member at reception explained the hotel was full (even though there was plenty still on booking.com) and it was a no I said okay and went back to my room where I realised it would do my partner no good sat in the lobby for 6 hours. I went back down and explained the situation and asked if there was anything that can be done at all, I even asked if we could pay for a full new room as they said our room had been assigned to someone else while smirking at me??? There was absolutely no sympathy or reasoning with anyone, absolutely shocking way to treat a customer who is distressed. You cannot reserve sun loungers before 10am, we had had our breakfast and I put our stuff down onto our chosen sun loungers for the day while my partner showered and sat down, around 10 minutes later I went to the toilet and bought some water. Once I came back my stuff had all been put into my bag and there was someone else on my sun loungers who laughed me off while I took my bag and waked away! I understand as I had gone and it was before 10am but I had only nipped away for 10 minutes. It is obviously not being monitored how long people are away from the pool before towels are taken. I am now missing my sunglasses which I left on my towel, I asked at reception and unfortunately they haven’t been given in. Thank you to the lovely staff members at La Toscana, La plaza, Ladon pool bar (specifically the tall gentleman) as well as the room cleaning staff who managed to claw back our holiday and make it somewhat enjoyable. We understand that is is a busy period for a hotel and we are willing to overlook isolated experience as you never know what type of day someone is having. However there is no way that that many staff members are having that much of a bad day everyday for 10 days! We wanted to share our experience as we hope Lopesan Costa Meloneras can take accountability and improve their hospitality as it is a beautiful hotel and it’s unfortunate we won’t be back.

Couldn’t fault anything at all, exceeded all expectations. Paola was a ray of sunshine every morning and went above and beyond when cleaning our room, pay rise needed. 10/10 experience, we will definitely be back
