Áurea Toledo

I arrived with a prepaid reservation for one night. We needed a room with two twin beds, which I thought I had reserved in advance. Apparently you cannot choose the room type when you have a prepaid reservation. They wanted to charge an additional 50 Euros to give us a different room type. After some deliberation, and me repeatedly saying no- they acquiesced. I was appreciative of that. It really was a good gesture on their part, as I was pretty certain I had booked a room with two beds. When you arrive, they give you a glass of cava and some delicious cookies made with marzipan. This was a very nice welcoming touch. The staff are all warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Probably the best service at a hotel so far in Spain. The rooms are adequate sized, with nice views of the beautiful tiled rooftops of Toledo. Some are centered around a lovely courtyard. The hotel is in an old, renovated moorish building, which definitely has a spa like feel. There is even a legend about “el Pozo Amargo,” an ancient well that turned bitter after the father of a young Catholic girl killed her Jewish lover. It’s a place with both history, and a story… The robes in the rooms and the towels were great quality. I loved the heated towel rack. There is also a Nespresso machine in the room, as well as a teapot if you want tea instead of coffee. The breakfast was well executed, as well. They have wonderful choices of juices and wine, as well as great eggs, postres, and breads. I really enjoyed the peach nectar! There is a small mineral spring pool that you can book for 50 minutes for an additional 25 Euros. We did not partake in this. The hotel is steps to the main cathedral, and very centrally located in the center of Toledo. All in all, this was a very enjoyable experience. I wish we would have had more than one night. I would definitely return to this hotel, if ever in Toledo again.

Vi havde to overnatninger i et dejligt værelse. Området har en tryg og rolig beliggenhed. Morgenmaden kunne være bedre. Der manglede konstant et eller andet i buffeten, hvilket betyder vi nok vil vælge et andet hotel en anden gang. Rengøringspersonalet var venligt, men der sad rester af et eller andet skum på badekarret, da vi kom. Men det er ikke noget, der betød noget for opholdet.

Hotel lindo, confortável, limpíssimo, café da manhã excelente, camas e travesseiros, toalhas, excelentes. Ótima localização. Funcionários educadíssimos.

The Aurea was incredible: beautiful, comfortable, welcoming. I'm running out of ways to describe this hotel. The staff is friendly, professional, and gracious. The location is perfect. I would definitely stay again.
