"A pleasant place for a stopover or quiet weekend away…"

7.0

First impressions are good - modern, clean, beachside with a nice pool. We’d booked for 3 nights. The room was comfortable. The food choice was good (Philippino and some more western dishes) and priced quite reasonably for a place like this. The staff were friendly. The resort is trying to do its bit in terms of environmental considerations. We did a half day trip to a local island for snorkelling etc. which was very good value.

The location is beachside but remote - there’s nowhere else we could find to eat or drink locally so it’s the hotel offering or nothing. The resort has the feeling of sometimes being for the convenience of the staff rather than guests. E.G. The bar closes at 9pm and we were told to eat at 7.30pm as dinner service stops at 8. You have to order food at least an hour or so in advance (but at least that should mean it’s freshly cooked). Housekeeping was erratic - the room was not serviced unless requested and they forgot to put the hot water on for the first 2 days. I’m all for saving the planet with less laundry etc. but at this price point I expect my bed to be made and the bin emptied etc. There are lots of rules, cctv and staff giving orders to each other via loud walky talkies which sometimes spoils the atmosphere a little! After pre-paying for the room and breakfast via this app I was very surprised to be asked to leave a 1500 peso ‘security deposit’ - in cash. And sign some sort of waiver..that’s a first for me. The rooms need tvs for the price point (also it would give guests something to do after 9pm). The room facilities need a little more attention - for example although advised to ‘lock valuables away’ the safe is tiny so laptop etc vulnerable. The ‘fresh’ coffee in a jar for use with the machine was too coarsely ground to make a drink. The outdoor seating for the ground floor bedrooms needs rethinking as our neighbour’s chairs were partially in front of room’s full length window. But you can go and sit on the beach. The sun loungers and chairs need cushions. The provided towels are poor quality. The pool needs depth indicators - there is an unmarked ‘deep end’ which was a surprise (but could be worse for someone who can’t swim!)

"Diamond dive resort"

10.0

Amila resort, but more importantly the staff and owners absolutely have a special place in our hearts. From the first communication to the last good bye, this intimate dive resort makes you feel like family. The rooms were cozy, cool and the bed was so comfortable, sometimes hard to leave! The food was absolutely delicious and made fresh with love every meal. Often times we would chat with the owners and staff, which for us was just wonderful learning about their culture and perspectives. The diving was good, with short boat rides to the sites and good action under the water. We brought our own equipment but the gear others used was top notch. We would not hesitate to come back. Its hard to find a resort like this, where everyone goes out of their way to make your trip special. Book it already!

"Superb"

9.0

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful beach resort. The property is small size added to its charm, and the elegant and serene atmosphere made it the perfect retreat. My room was a highlight, with a lovely balcony offering stunning views of the ocean. (A right height of the chair in the balcony could be more comfortable.) The local staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure my needs were met. I was impressed by the multitasking abilities of the team members, who seemed to effortlessly juggle multiple tasks with ease. One suggestion I would like to make is to store the wine and liquor in a temperature-controlled environment to maintain their quality and allow guests to fully appreciate their flavors. The food at the resort was exceptional, with a special shout-out to the talented chef who prepared delicious dishes. However, I did notice that some items on the menu were occasionally unavailable, which could lead to frustration for guests. To address this, I would recommend separating occasional items into a separate menu or offering advance notice when they're not available. The rooms were immaculately clean, well-laid out, and boasted high ceilings that added to their sense of spaciousness. Few minor issue I noticed was the shower drainage, which was not elevated well. However, I was informed that the owner is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. Paper menu in the rooms could ruin the elegant of the room and I would suggest a QR code could enhance the experience. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at this beach resort, and I would highly recommend it to others. With a few tweaks to address some minor issues, it could truly be a one of the best destination in Negros Occidental . Nonetheless, I appreciated the attention to detail and dedication to providing excellent service from the staff."

"Ultimate relaxation"

10.0

Beautifull location, excellent accomodation and serivce. Specially suited for travellers who enjoy a more tranquile experience. The resort is in the middle of nature, at the beach, with tremendous sunset views. Just relax at the infitiy pool or do some local activities such as scuba diving, kayaking, paddle boarding or take a tour to a nearby uninhabited island with a turtle sanctuary, batt and python caves and do local snorkling and kayanking. Absolutely recommended for a relaxed and tranquile holiday experience

I love how the resort is so serene and beachfront with a pool. The owner and staff were really nice and accomodating. The rooms are clean and beds are comfy and bidet in the toilet. The property is a mixture of rustic and industrial vibe design.

"This place is amazing, and very special."

During our trip to Sipalay, Negros Occidental, we had a break from our project and took the opportunity to visit a first class resort in Bulata. Amila Dive Beach Resort hit the spot. The resort is owned and operated by Tobias and Sophie, a very welcoming couple. If you are looking for a break from the normal, this is the place.
