Discovery Samal

boat transfer from davao welcome center to discovery samal was very convenient. otherwise going to samal island through the usual ferry will take you some time because of the long queue. the meet & greet once you arrive is very good, cart ride to your room too and if you’re lucky the driver will give you a little history of the place including amenities. the couple room + 1 that we booked is generous.

apparently, during off peak season there will be less staff hence you will have a long wait for the property tour as there will not be enough driver to take you. at least that’s what our driver told us after we complained that we have been waiting for some time in the open lobby.

They didnt clean my room and only did a turn down service in evening. I dont know if thats standard but i wanted to come to a clean room after a day of touring. I also didnt like that I wasnt able to bring the chips that I bought from SM 😂 and they even checked my bag after i came back from my tour

It's our fifth time there, still the same. We all like everything there.

The beach is nice. And the view fantastic. Aesthetically the property is impressive. But look closer and it seems fake and in need of repair. Food venues were good although expensive.

It’s not a five star establishment. More like a 3 star. The finishes and decor are nice but underlying five star treatment and niceties not there. Most of sinks in washroom out of order. Lifts not working in apartment block. Transport like London buses, none then three on a row. Fake grass and wood decking sorely in need of a varnish.
