Oasis Colombo

The room was so cosy, comfortable and clean, a real pleasure to come back to after a day out in the city . There’s a perfect little desk area to work from with plenty of natural light. Loved the terrace for sitting out in the evenings, nature fans may also enjoy spotting palm civets jumping from the neighbouring roofs at night! Breakfast was adequate. The hotel/house was very tastefully decorated and we had a kettle and fridge/mini-bar in the room after I had requested it. The staff, especially Ganga, were very good but it took a little effort to communicate with the elderly "couple".

Main problem was the lack of restaurants, cafes and bars in the surrounding area. BOOKING.com stated that there were 3 places nearby but they must have closed because it was "off season" or they lied, which is also a possibility - lots of incorrect information about what's in a room etc. We took a tuk tuk to Kotte Road, for 2 of the 3 evenings, to find a restaurant - well worth the time & money (Shanghai Terrace) but would have preferred to walk to somewhere closer. The road leading to the hotel was full of puddles after the rain and we had lots of it ! Maybe tarmac or something else would get rid of this problem. Our taxi drivers (coming and going) had trouble finding the hotel although there were signs - very easy once you spot them ...

Very kind staff. Nice location a bit out of the main city, so it was quiet.

Everything here is great, and makes you feel comfortable and happy, at a very reasonable cost. Room is fully furnished, with all amenities - TV, AC, towels, blankets, table, chair, extra plug points, flat TV, water bottles, free Wifi. The bathroom is equally good with 24 hours hot water, soap, shampoo, hand wash, etc. Entire property is very well maintained, neat and clean, kudos to the hardwork of the manager and the old care taker couple. They are very friendly and welcoming. They take care of you as their home guest. The best part is the breakfast, which aunty cooks, extremely delicious. And they offer good breakfast options you can choose from. It is served with tea/coffee/juice, as per our choice. It is located in a silent residential area. The location is very close to Cargills supermarket, some good food points, including McDonalds, a Budhist spiritual centre, all in walkable distance. It is 10-15 minutes from the central business area and the National Hospital area, well connected by bus, as well. I have stayed at over 10 different properties in Sri Lanka over the last 2 years, but this I would rate to be the best from all angles. This would be my first preference in future.

Hmmm.... nothing really

A quiet night’s rest! Loved it. I booked my stay at Oasis Colombo at the last minute. All I really wanted was a decent sleep as I had some plans in Colombo from next morning. I got my wish. An undisturbed, quiet nights’ sleep in a cozy room! A quick cab ride to the city was arranged within 10 minutes of my request. Loved Sri Lankan food! The String Hoppers with Dhal Curry breakfast was awesome! Suited my vegetarian routine. Spicy but not too hot. Staff was supportive and friendly. They also respected my privacy. Overall, a great stay. Very happy to recommend the place.
