Lovely, quiet hotel in a good location for visiting several stops along Hadrian’s Wall by car.

In a small village in rural Northumberland but a short drive to many attractions, particularly Hadrian’s Wall. Our room was very clean and attractive and in particular the bathroom was spacious and had a wet room style shower. The style was more than we expected at a country pub. Breakfast was superb, best cooked breakfast we have had for a long time. Dinner at night was good, a reasonable menu. All meals were served by friendly and professional staff. Great value, hope to visit again. Definitely recommended.

Excellent hotel , bar & restaurant. They couldn’t do enough to make our stay very enjoyable.

All the staff were lovely and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

We had two days at the Black Bull , the area was lovely ,nice and peaceful . The pub was lovely clean and comfortable,and the staff could not do enough for us!! We met some lovely people from the area who were all very friendly . The village had another hotel / bar , and the black bull has the grey bull next door. The area is not far from Hexham to explore and shop. We did the Abbey which was great. Also 5 mins from our hotel was Simonsburn that had a lovely 13th century church ,which was fascinating. I wouls say that whatever you are looking for , be it a rest , or driving around the lovely country side, there is something for everyone. Oh and nearly forgot to say ,the food in the Black bull was very very good, ample breakfasts and lovely evening meals. Top marks!!

Great place to stay to explore Kielder forest and water. Very pleasant staff. Room 2 very sweet little room with a fab bathroom. New (Nov) chef trying to bring in more exciting dishes and does it very well.....the food was lovely, go for something from the specials board to get away from the usual pub food. ,

I’ve made this my home for when going to Kielder. Stayed here loads of times, friendly staff, good location and fantastic food.

Overall an enjoyable stay. Spolit by there being too much light from the conservatory during the night.
