Black Bull Bellingham

Very nice. Last minute stay so arrived late and dining room closed (which they informed us via email). Room was great and they directed us to lovely inn for dinner just down the road. Well definitely be back!

We thought this hotel was in the town of Hexham but it is actually in the village of Wark, many miles away. The village is tiny with only this pub and a small shop. There is another restaurant that we did not see until our way out of town. We had two rooms on the main level behind the bar. They were quiet as they close the bar early. But one was very hot with a window opening into a lounge and the other very cold. The staff were friendly. We had dinner which was pub style hearty fare. The rooms were very overpriced for what we got and the location.

It is very modern and updated; not what I was expecting for an old historic building.

The Black Bull is located in the quaint village of Wark on the River Tyne. A truly lovely atmosphere with walking trails along the river. The rooms are recently renovated with a large bathroom and walk-in shower. A beautiful glassed in conservatory with comfortable leather sofa and chairs provides a lovely view of the property. The dining and pub facilities are top rated. The Black Bull is a perfect location for a quiet getaway.

We booked The Black Bull Hotel because it was a fairly central location for exploring the Emperor Hadrian's Wall in Northumbria, England. The hotel is located on the Tyne river in the picturesque stone village of Wark, and easily accessible from the B6318 following drives through the moors and woods. Recently remodeled, the hotel has free parking adjacent and a welcoming bar/reception, extensive and relaxing garden, guest conservatory, and beautiful dining area. We selected a deluxe room that included a spacious area, huge walk-in shower and modern bathroom, and a four-poster bed that was quite comfortable . . . along with the usual amenities (tea/coffee station, large flat-screen digital television, lovely furnishings. The evening meals (if desired) are reasonably priced and substantially portioned, and served between 5:30-8:30 p.m. The Feathered Blade of Beef with creamy mash and a gigantic dish of assorted cooked vegetables was just the right touch following a day exploring Hadrian's Wall. If guests desire an evening of socializing, the sister establishment---The Gray Bull pub is located next door. Breakfast is included from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and is cooked to order ("full English") plus a selection of sweet pastries, juices, and cold or hot cereals. Very substantial! The Black Bull staff are friendly, efficient, and cater to the guests needs. We will be back! I highly recommend this establishment as good value for money---you get what you pay for!

We had a great night. A beautiful meal and a very relaxing evening. We will go back again for a longer stay.

Lovely hotel and staff. Stopped with family for 1 night as close to the keilder forest winter wonderland Room was great for a family and very clean Food and drink in bar was very good and resonably piced Only small complaint was breakfast was in the conservatory. The room was done out very festive but our table was so close to the door we had to move out of the seats to let people in or out. the table was also next to a waste pipe and we could hear waste running down while eating so a little off putting. Food was excellent at breakfast though. Over all excellent little hotel. We would stop again and kids want to go back in the summer.
