Mountain Goat Lodge

I discovered Mountain Goat Lodge while searching for B & Bs for nature-lovers. The beautiful setting, the comfortable rooms, the delicious breakfasts, the excellent hospitality, and especially the adorable animals in the corrals all made this one of my best finds yet. I look forward to staying there again.

Wonderful stay! Friendly hosts! The cheesy grits, farm fresh eggs, tomatoes, basil, and goat cheese were the best! Lots of beautiful little nooks to sit, read and write. The friendly dogs were an extra plus. The goats were very entertaining. Will definitely return!

This was our 4th time here and it did not disappoint! Room was very comfortable and the whole atmosphere was fantastic! We love to roam around and visit all the animals and walk on the trail. D'Arcy and Gina are fantastic hosts. The home made breakfasts are simply amazing...Fresh yogurt and fruit, huevos rancheros, breakfast sandwiches and yummy turnovers. Always something absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

The facility is really nice and has a menagerie of farm animals. It also has a hiking trail. Rooms are nice and breakfast outstanding. Definitely the place to stay in Salida

Go ahead and book your reservation. This place is lovely. The proprietors are responsive, professional, sincere, service-oriented, genuine... All the things that you are wanting these days. The room was clean except for one minor issue which after contacting them, was swiftly remedied. The beds are nice and the room & bathroom clean. Breakfast was ample and wholesome, the coffee plentiful. Though I did not have any espresso drinks (plain coffee gal here), I watched many guests enjoy the barista skills of the owner. Don't miss out on this amenity: fresh yogurt, fruits, and GET THE HOT BREAKFAST. For those needing to relax, the grounds offer an easy little walk around the property. Sit back on the porch and have the battling hummingbirds zip all around the plentiful feeders hanging on the deck. Or hang out with the super docile goats who NEED all the pets. Only word of warning, if animals scare you or you're the type that dislikes animals, maybe this isn't your kind of place. But for the rest of us, the chonky, opinionated cat, the loyal Aussie, the dutiful but sweet farm dog, guest animals, goats, chickens... Well, they are balm for the soul.

Had an amazing time on a quick two night stay at Mountain Goat Lodge! The Sawatch suite was very spacious, the bed was perfect, and the shower was comfortable even for my 6'3" height (although the shower base was just a touch slippery). Roku TVs is both rooms made it easy to unwind when our day was over, and the complimentary breakfast was a great way to start the next day! The property is gorgeous and there's a nice walking path that I highly recommend to anyone staying here. If I had to offer any suggestion, it would be to help new guests know what's ok to do when it comes to interacting with the animals. The self check-in process made it easy to get into our room without waiting for anyone, but we ended up just showing ourselves around the property and I wasn't sure if any animal etiquette should be followed. As it turns out, the animals are all pretty good at either warming up to you or avoiding you, but I would have felt better having some kind of "helpful tip."

MY HUSBAND AND I TOOK TWO DAYS BEFORE A FAMILY WEDDING FOR SOME ALONE TIME. THIS HOTEL WAS JUST WHAT WE NEEDED. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS RUSTIC AND COMFORTING. THE DAILY BREAKFAST WAS OUTSTANDING AND THE STAFF WELCOMING. I MISS MY MORNING GOAT MILK MOCHA'S. I HOPE WE ARE ABLE TO RETURN FOR ANOTHER STAY AND RECOMMEND IT TO ALL.

Parent and teen approved 5 star stay! If waking up to fresh mountain air, and the smell of homemade breakfast being made with the freshest ingredients will make you happy, then this is the place for you! It’s like a page out of a storybook! The entire lodge is extremely clean and inviting. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The well-kept pasture is brought to life by the sweet cow, silly goats, and pretty chickens. A few things we are grateful to have enjoyed: A good night’s sleep on nice linens and comfortable beds. The (hot)hot tub. Eating breakfast on the nice new deck. Sipping specially made espresso drinks, made by people who know coffee. Watching the morning milking process and learning about the varieties of the goats & their own special stories. Hope you can stay! It’s certainly worthwhile, worth it, and wonderful!

We loved everything about our stay..the owners were helpful and friendly, the breakfasts were amazing, the caramel lattes were decadent, and the room was comfortable with a beautiful view….even the toilet paper was luxurious.

Absolutely lovely stay at Mountain Goat Lodge. What a treat. We were so happy to have found this gem. Our suite was large and private. Perfectly clean. Very comfortable bed with very nice sheets. After a great rain storm all night we awoke to freshly made lattes and a excellent breakfast. Our hosts were a lot of fun to talk to. We hiked around the farm, watched the hummingbirds, met other guests and left for the rest of our journey. We will definitely be back.
