Blockade Runner Motor Inn

This is a Mom & Pop place, restaurant on site, open 7am-7pm. Beachfront ! Reasonable price. A little "old school" beach place but as Senior Adults that's what we like! Door is heavy tho and a bit hard to open. Would stay again!

Had a good time had trouble with tv when first got there lady at front desk .came right up to fix it .Room was clean,and every one was very freindly ,Enjoyed the restaurant,Have a good view of Ocean and nice pool hope to go back next oct. nice location.

We "assumed" this hotel had been updated since the outside had been painted but it may be new paint on outside but still BAD on inside. The room smelled and was old. Stains on the furniture & carpet, dirty coffee maker & cups/spoons. The bath towel we had was just a little larger than the hand towel. Maybe it was for children instead of adults. Pillows were flat & lumpy bed. I have never stayed at a place where the guests had to do their own housekeeping! We had to empty the trash cans, strip the bed and take the linens to a bin for cleaning. We have stayed here before and never had to do this plus the prices have gone up. The ONLY positive thing I can say about this place is the check-in was smooth and the lady at the desk was so very helpful and nice. I do not recommend this place!

Property was fine. You have to take out your own trash at the end of your stay though which I found somewhat strange. Overall very good and we will return

For the money and availability for an ocean front room, It was worth it. The hotel was old and outdated but we were there for the Beach not the Ritz-Carlton. There's smoking going on around the property but it wasn't too overwhelming. The room was clean and comfortable.

Bed was hard to sleep on but enjoyed our stay. But bedding needs to be updated was hard as a rock. Sincerely donald e dye jr

Enjoyed our stay; property needs updating & some repairs. Door stuck terribly. Room was very clean! Need an early key drop off box or the ability to leave keys in room for early checkin. Office/lobby wasn’t unlocked at the advertised 8:30 time on sign so we dropped ours at Elliott’s!

What have they done to the Blockade Runner? Over the past 5 years we have stayed there from 9-12 times a year. The past 4 years we have taken the kids and grandkids and rented 4 rooms in July. On our March 2024 trip we were greeted by signs announcing the new management. We immediately noticed the new “vibe”. My observations of the new management. SERVICE: in the past we arrived to plenty of towels for the bath and kitchen. There was also an extra roll of toilet paper. Housekeeping checked with us every day to see if we needed anything. Now, you get a shrink wrapped package with 2 bath towels and 2 wash clothes. No hand towels or bath floor mat and no kitchen towel. If you need replacements you have to request them at the office. Same goes for toilet paper and trash bags. RATES: under new ownership and management the rooms have gone up anywhere from 35-50%. Our 4 room July trip this year was $2576 for 4 nights thanks to the reservation being made several months ago. I looked into the same rooms next year for the same week and the quote was $3789!!! We always stay for 4 nights the last week of September for our anniversary. Last year we paid $434. This year the same room will be $838. I can understand an increase with everything being more expensive, but 50%. One charge I did not understand was the NMB service fee. I was told that was for linens and departure cleaning. Yet in the quote I was given for July 2025 both linens and departure cleaning are listed as free!! NEWSFLASH: the Blockade Runner is a 60 year old retro style beach motel. It is not a condo building. Trying to present it as such is a mistake. On a positive note, everybody in the office was super nice and extremely helpful. It was great to see Steven there again.

The Blockade Runner Motor Inn is under new ownership/management. As in all the other years I have stayed here service was above and beyond awesome. I would highly recommend staying here. Blockade Runner is oceanfront and is within walking distance of the Cherry Grove Pier, Boulineau’s Store, a couple ice cream places, pizza and restaurants. It is also easy driving access to multiple attractions and restaurants.

We have been staying at the Blockade Runner for over 25 years. It recently sold in Feb 24 and was turned into a condo rental. We reserved an efficiency room and was surprised at how rundown and filthy the room was. It’s difficult to pay close to $200 per night for a hotel room in such a rundown state. Renovations need to be made to this condo hotel. Outdated air conditioning systems that reek of mold, filthy carpets and hair all over everything. I would give this hotel less than 1 star if it were possible. Recommend saving your hard earned money and stay at another property until they clean up and renovate.
