Blockade Runner Motor Inn

We stayed in room 511 4/12 through 4/14. The room was filthy. I was told on the phone that we were getting a newly renovated room. The light fixtures were all rusted. Room smells like dog odor. Pet stains on carpet. Air Conditioner doesnt cool room off. Huge blood or vomit stains on base of bed. Tons of dirt and hair on bathroom floor esp. under vanity. Water or moisture damage near air conditioner and in bathroom. Will never stay here again. Very disappointed.

Great hotel! Under new management. This is an older hotel (previously family owned) that has been in business for many years. The room and hotel are clean. All rooms are ocean front with a balcony which is a huge plus. Beds are comfy. (I like to take my own pillow which I forgot) The ladies at the front desk are amazing. Shanna, Mindy and Lani go out of their way to make sure your stay is great. They ask multiple times if you need anything. They are very sweet and friendly. My suggestion is, read reviews but form your own opinion. I sent the staff an email prior to my visit and asked questions about the hotel after reading reviews. I felt comfortable staying there and I'm so glad I did. It's a great location and reasonably priced. Btw..We didn't see any bugs at all. We had two joining rooms. Not one bug!

Good location

The most disgusting place I've ever seen. We had to get our Keys before 5pm, but immediately went to an event. We did not get back to the room until 830pm. What we found were an open front and patio door. Someone had crapped in the toilet and it was still floating there. The wall between the bathroom and bedroom was punched in and drywall was all over the floor below it. It stunk of Cigarette Smoke and Mold. There were no towels or toilet paper, there were dead roaches in the bath tub and one live one crawling up the wall behind the bed. The carpet was disgusting. There were hangers on the bed from the previous people as well as their receipts from Top Golf. Totally Nasty! We called Elliott Realty, who handles this property now, and they didn't get back with us for over an hour (There is no staff or maintenance on site), By then we had left and checked in at a different place. I've traveled all over the world and I have never been so disgusted by a hotel room like this in my life. You are taking your health into question staying here. We couldn't get out of here fast enough.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I tried booking directly as usual but the phone now rings into Elliot beach rentals…Micheal sold the blockade runner and reservations are now through Elliot beach rentals and can be done online or by calling. 1/4 is due at time of booking and the remaining 30 days prior to arrival. Hopefully the new owner will do the much needed updates that are needed to this hotel that we all love to spend our vacations.

Let's start with the information I received at the front desk when checking in.."Oh, I'm sorry, someone gave away your room" (which was an oceanfront efficiency room ) but, we have a very nice apartment for you next to the pool. Kitchen - dishes in the the efficiency apartment - where? A few coffee cups and 4 bowls. Silverware - another mystery. Place was nasty, nasty, nasty...floors, carpet, bathtub, furniture, windows, curtains, blinds, etc. I was afraid to sleep in the bed after finding the roaches on the floor and trying to avoid them as they ran across the floors. Unbelievable. Not sure if the maid service was told to "dust the the furniture, light fixtures, T.V., etc." Perhaps they maintained a cleaning effort 5 years ago. This apartment needs some major updating and cleaning...major! Broken lamps and shades on the floor, broken table lamps, etc. The attached photos should tell you not to stay here. I was extremely disappointed in this hotel. I will never stay here again...never. And, I paid a high price for this apartment! It's wrong of the hotel to charge for such a nasty place.

For just a few days at the beach, not a bad place to stay for the price. It’s the basic mom and pop hotel with none of the fancy amenities of the large hotels in the area. They don’t have a website to make reservations, just give them a call. They also still use real keys, no key cards. The room was large and it was clean. There was a coffee maker, toaster, microwave and small fridge. No complaints about housekeeping. We kept our do not disturb sign on the door and house keeping would leave a bag of clean towels on our door each day. All of the rooms are ocean front and had a great view of the beach. We stayed during Fall Bike Week so it did get a little loud at night sometimes with the bikes but we were allowed to park our bike under the front awning and they provided towels to wipe your bikes down with.

Could be great 'old school' place- but FAAAAR from it RUN - From the outside, deceptively deceiving. All Oceanfront, we rented an efficiency, double queen, second floor. The pervasive lack of cleaning is BEYOND description. The missing dishes in the efficiency, room 206, AS IF I would use the kitchen, was laughable to the front desk person who described,” Oh, you would not believe what people steal.” Lamp shade linings ripped and barely hanging on. Strange hair clinging to the bath/shower ledges. Dust matted on the bath light fixture. Main room floor NOT vacuumed, there was tiny papers and new clothing plastic tags scattered about. Candy wrappers and bits/chunks of food under the beds. Now for the blanket: a cigarette hole- no smoking in the hotel, a strange honey-like gooey substance- and a dried splotch of white hard liquid…UGH. Although the front desk person advised the blankets are changed out with each new guest. Now the covering on the box spring- a bright pink liquid as well as what appeared to be dried blood. When reported, such apathy, the staff did not even care to come to the room to investigate. JUST STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. If we could have left, we would have but due to the late hour- we rolled the dice. If we had kids with us we would have slept in the car. The disregard for establishment cleanliness, staff response and decent comfort is non-existent. Either this in this is the norm throughout this entire Motel or this room needs to be sealed off. We gave it 2 stars due to the lack of bed bugs

The staff from booking to check out were all very nice and helpful. Some of the cleaning staff had some food recommendations for us and were all very kind. Older hotel but it was clean and they were always asking if we needed anything. I do wish that there was some sort of breakfast but oh well. The worst part of the stay was the smell of pot smoke that someone was apparently smoking in their room but that isn't totally the hotels fault. We will come back for sure!

Right on the beach. Fantastic staff and owners. Older however in great shape, close to everything and a great price. Use this as your base and your stay will have 1 less thing to worry about. Parking is a little tight.
