Blockade Runner Motor Inn

Looking for the newest hotel and pools, This aint it.. This is how the beach was when I was a kid.. Clean, No bugs and a nice place to sleep and stay. Thats it.. We came in February so pools were closed and hot tub also. But its clean and in walking distance to have some and enjoy the beach during a cold month. Right now they putting a new coat of paint on the place and I will be back again for sure. You cant book on line, you gotta call so that tells you this is a old place and I love it...

Very nice stay! What more would you want ?you want? All oceanfront rooms and nice staff…. Clean and close to everything!!!! Number 1 I’m my book!!! Safe area and within walking distance to grocery,bars,and eateries.

This is one of my favorite places to visit as a kid I still enjoy going there and you can’t be more at home at this hotel. It was clean well kept and will always be my favorite place to go. Thanks to the owner and his generosity.

My husband and I had been guests here a couple of times before and had a good experience. This time I brought other family members and was very embarrassed. The room was far from clean when we checked in and the odor was overwhelmingly obnoxious. The mattress pads were in tatters, hanging off the mattresses. The sheets did not fit the beds. The balcony door would not open. The gentleman working evenings, Kevin, was responsive, sent someone to help clean and to fix the balcony door. The following day I spoke with the owner/manager who denied he was the owner/manager but asked what I would want to speak to him about. I responded the condition of the room when we checked in, to which he asked if we wanted to check out. He could clearly care less. The hot tub was not working and he was dismissive of that as well. When I commented that I would not be returning, he simply said ok. His indifference was startling!

NEVER AGAIN My family has stayed at the Blockade Runner in North Myrtle Beach MANY times in the past, and we were excited to return this year for vacation! The excitement quickly vanished at check-in when we found out that not only were our 3 rooms (booked MONTHS in advance) not adjoining or neighboring as requested....they weren't even on the same floor! Little did we know, that was going to be least of our issues. Room #1 - There was cockroach crawling on the wall and dirty sheets that had to be changed. They were switched to a different (worse) room the next day, and the linen on the bed was dirty and box spring looked like somebody had vomited all over it. Room #2 - The bed had dirt, crumbs, & hair in the sheets, there were cigarette butts on the floor and on the balcony, and there was a big wad of hair in the trashcan. When housekeeping came to look change the sheets, the mattress pad was nasty and had to be changed. One of the lamps had no lightbulb, and there was no telephone in the room. Room #3 - FILTHTY is the only way to describe this room. There was mold, dirt, and dust on the carbon monoxide detector and phone jack unit behind the nightstand. The AC unit was covered in dirt and dust, and the filters were absolutely disgusting and full of black mold. One of the comforters had small black spots of mold on the outside and a large area of mold on the inside. The sheets were stained and looked as though there werent changed after the previous guests. When the sheets were removed, there appeared to be a huge urine stain on the mattress pad. The other bed had a bloodstained comforter and sheets. One lamp was broken, another lamp had a lightbulb missing, and there was a burned out light in the bathroom. There was even a takeout container of food still in the microwave. There was no housekeeper available to come clean, so management had the man working the front desk come change the linen, bleach the mold, and clean the AC unit. The cherry on top was at checkout when the owner was unapologetic and completely disinterested in the fact that we were unsatisfied. In fact, his only comment was that he hoped we could find somewhere to stay that will make us happy. So needless to say, we will NEVER be returning to the Blockade Runner again. What was once one of our favorite place to stay has become a filthy, run down, joke of a hotel.

I have been bringing my children to Myrtle Beach and staying at this hotel Blockade Runner Motor Inn for 10 years. We have always been treated with kindness, and they done every thing to accommodate us. Michael has always been a gentleman. My last trip with my daughter and son was in 2017. Since then she had passed away in 2018 and my son has lost his eyesite. He has had 4 surgeries since December and was in very need of a relaxing trip to the beach with his wife of two years. Due to possible another surgery the room was canceled. After the fact another surgery had to put on hold due to the retina being re attached. My son had called the hotel and reserved a different room because of their nephew going. I don't know what had happen in Michael's life but he was very rude to my son this time around. The kids said the pot smell was so strong in the hotel and the office it was making them sick but they didn't want to complain because they were there to unwine from all the trauma they had gone through with his eyes. There was absolutely no reason for him to be treated the way he was by the maid Ashley and the owner Michael. I was shocked by his temperment.. That sure isn't the way to run a business. With everything my son had gone through since December and then this ordeal. I was heartbroken that, that happened to him and it was uncalled for. So their trip to Myrtle Beach was anything but relaxing. There is no excuse for rudeness what so ever. My son said they were probably the only ones who wasn't smoking pot. He said he had never heard such rude people in that hotel before. It's like people went crazy after being locked up with Covid for two years. I guess that will be mine and theirs last vacation at the Blockade Runner. It's a shame because we loved staying there. Things has changed and not for the better. Sorry Blockade Runner but we won't be back. Your rudeness was uncalled for. Especially to someone who was blind and just wanted to enjoy a trip to Myrtle Beach with no stress. Thanks Blockade Runner you ruined his trip for no reason at all. They are good Christian kids and wasn't out to cause anyone any problems. I am very disappointed with your actions Michael and Ashley.
