Location was perfect coming from a late crossing at the Eurotunnel. Pub was cosy. The room was a good size, with a good bathroom and shower facilities (flush was very loud but understand it is an old building) earplugs were provided. Bed was comfortable and great size, we slept well.

The black pudding on the breakfast was odd, when you cut into it, it was hollow. Not the best quality breakfast but was included in room price, so not too bad.

"Characterful pub/hotel with 'uncharacterful' staff"

7.0

Really nice period property/pub (16th century) with a welcoming and roaring inglenook fire in the pub. Cosy, characterful room (if uneven of floor) and good room facilities. The fire was the star though!

Staff were less than welcoming and friendly. Not rude, just lacking in any kind of chit-chat/pleasantries. The plumbing in the room was very noisy and to get to the pub (from your room) you have to go outside (and fight the elements), down slick, treacherous steps. Breakfast service was VERY slow.

"Two glorious nights away for Christmas what more could you ask for."

9.0

The Christmas lunch was delicious and so was Boxing Day. The room was as we had hoped, not only the cleanliness but also the uneven floor and beams and just the general age of the building. Log fires in an open grate, leather sofa with a glass of wine - just wonderful. The breakfast were enormous and very tasty.

The grouting in the bathrrom could have been cleaner and the shower head kept flopping down to the wall but I wedged it in and it stayed long enough for me to rinse off. The toilet seat was also wobbly, I nearly fell off!

Great location, quirky sloped room.

Disappointing breakfast, overcooked poached eggs with solid yolks
