The Windmill

This is our third stay here. We really enjoy coming here for a night before catching the ferry over to Calias. Staff are always super friendly, location is great and the rooms are very comfortable and clean.

It would have been good to know in advance that their restaurant was not open on the day we arrived so we could have organised prior to arriving that we eat before getting there, instead of settling and only then finding out we couldn't order anything as they were closed. Our room this time was located above delivery/ kitchen area. We were woken at 6:20am by the chef or kitchen staff throwing boxes and crates and fighting with someone. Not a great start so early in the morning.

On arrival we were greeted very nicely. All of the staff were very polite and friendly to say the least. Would definitely recommend staying there and eating in the restaurant. 10/10

Warm welcome and quick resolution with a room change after finding an issue with the plumbing in the room first allocated to me. Delicious food and good service at both evening meal & breakfast. Warm, friendly and comfortable atmosphere for a lone travelling female. Quiet location and comfy bed for a great nights sleep and delicious hot chocolate sachet on tea tray. Netflix was an unexpected bonus. Attentive staff, especially Phil & Aimie.

The staff were lovely. the room was comfortable. The pub had an amazing 16th century fireplace! Plus, original beams all over the place and totally wonky bedroom floor. The Balfour wine in the pub and the food, especially the mushrooms on toast and the winter vegetables.

Hmm - mould in the shower; the lack of warning about the lack of breakfast. But we received a discount on our evening meal for the inconvenience of having to walk down the road to get a v fine breakfast at the Signal Box Community Cafe at the railwayy station. the selection of cask beer in the pub was disappointing.

I waited 20 minutes to check in while staff were milling around in the kitchen ignoring me.

Great place to stay. Really comfortable bed Great evening meal and breakfast is excellent.

Noise from the bar in room, but its a very old building and bar closes at reasonable time so sleep was not disturbed.

I can't eat breakfast but my partner and friends said the breakfast was lovely! The room was beautiful. Staff were very welcoming and lovely throughout our stay.

The evening meal booked in advance was disappointing, three items were sent back. Two main meals were almost warm so we didn't complain, another main (pie) was hard, and also charged £6 to swap one mash with chips (chips were cold). There is a reason there are earplugs provided in the room, the plumbing must be upgraded, the noise is awful.

A great pub/restaurant with a nice garden to sit in. Good food and beer and a wonderful breakfast. Room very neat and clean.

The room was above the kitchen (noise) and had a very low door (watch your head!). Inside the room there is a green exit light burning also at night which we found disturbing. All in all a nice place but rather expensive for what you get.
