Beautiful old building and the room was full of charm. Staff very helpful and friendly.

I accept that it is a very old building, but the mechanism for handling waste water from the bathroom was incredibly loud and this is not mentioned before you book. Both at dinner and breakfast the following morning may items were not available (including custard!! How can a professional kitchen run out of custard powder, and why did nobody pop out to a supermarket to buy some??), other items not available included 1 of the main dishes, two of the desserts, custard and at breakfast: smoked salmon, avocado and yoghurt. For the second night we ate at a pub 2 mins drive away where the food was actually much better.

Superb service superb bar (sensibly priced ) really quality bedroom. Loads of free parking.

I should have stayed longer .

Horrible , we picked a hotel with restaurant because we drove all day , turns out it closed at 5 PM , this is nowhere to be found on their own website , nor booking , which states to close at 8 PM everywhere . Staff informed me that it wasn't their problem (!?) Very unfriendly and rude , no alternatives offered whatsoever , we could have a small dinner at 4:30 PM (?!) I've been all across the world , even in east Africa , and have never been treated that horribly . If you like to be treated as a number , go there . Could have been nice , as the building is very rustic , but the atmosphere is ruined by these 3 women "running" it . They even sent me a message some days prior to arriving asking " why not reserve a table in our restaurant ?" ( saying it was open untill 8 PM as well )To which I replied we would . But never got a reply back . I think it was a scheme of the staff to get out early without the boss of the chain knowing .

The breakfast was excellent. We ate our evening meal there too and the food was wonderful as well as the staff who were great, super helpful and attentive. I highly recommend this stay.

The grouting in the (beautiful) ensuite could do with an extra clean as it shows the stains once wet. The shower tray leaks onto the floor so a thicker bath mat might be a good idea. But I'm struggling to find fault as it was a marvelous place to stay.

Very helpful, friendly staff. The food was delicious. Comfortable bed. Good location to visit Leeds castle.

The noisy plumbing
