We had a lovely stay at the Neela. The rooms were beautiful, food was delicious, and the staff were especially kind, helpful, and thoughtful. A wonderful start to our trip!

The only problem with Room 5 is the kicking in of the salivation plant right out side the windows while trying to sleep at night. Room 5 needs double glazing to prevent the noise

Amazing staff, beautiful design, outstanding food.

This is an amazing hotel. The staff are great. So helpful and cheerful. A special mention to Elizabeth who helped me when I returned from an excursion with sea urchin spines in my foot. She went out of her way to go to the local shop to purchase something to ease the spines out of my foot. Asante Sana. The food here is second to none. We ate at 7 different restaurants every day we were here and nothing came close to eating at the Views restaurant and rooftop bar. (Second would be the Beach House, a Hyatt Hotel run restaurant not far away on the beach front. Lovely at night). We also had breakfast at the Neela Hotel Breadfruit restaurant and cafe, daily. This was also so tasty. The hotel is in the middle of a residential area in the heart of Stone Town. Literally 1 minute walk to the Freddy Mercury Museum! All other amenities are about 1 - 5 mins away. The night food market. Which is bustling with local people and tourists tasting the different foods on sale. This is right beside the harbour. During the day the harbour is bustling with people taking boat trips to the surrounding islands for the day to experience what Zanzibar has to offer. All of this and Stone Town central is on your doorstep at the Neela. A special mention to the breakfast staff and the manageress who were super helpful and responsive. Samuel and Othman were courteous, professional and knowledgeable about the locality so able to help us and direct us to local attractions like Dharajani market and souk. They went out of their way to make the last day of our stay as comfortable as possible after we had checked out of our room considering we had a late evening flight. They could not do enough for us and we are truly appreciative.

It would have been nice if the hotel had a pool and/or a gym; but it doesn’t and I knew that before arrival. I stayed in a deluxe room which could have been nice if it had a little more storage space for 2 people staying for a week and a make-up mirror!
