We came back one year after we celebrated our wedding here. It was great to be back and we experienced great service, great food and enjoyed a corner room with a nice view from the balcony. Thank you.
We booked the room through secret escapes because we loved the pictures and the nature on Osterøy. We arrived after 4 pm, but the staff had no clue that we had booked a room. No records of us anywhere. It took a while and then we got a room. (room no 227) Not as good as we were promised (they might have called it something too fancy also), but OK. At first it looked clean, but after staying there a couple of hours we found hair everywhere. In the middle of the night I found someone elses earplugs in the bed between the mattresses. Quite nasty. The food and drinks was way too expensive for us, so we decided to eat some place else. Did not regret that. Since the TV was so outdated we stayed out in the lovely nature instead. (No sound on the TV-channels and the picture went away every 15 seconds). The hotel staff was OK. I think they was too busy arranging the wedding they had that weekend. I didn't experience bad service, but we felt a little forgotten through the stay. We had payed for a late check-out, but for the first time in the history we didn't see why we should stay late. The breakfast was nothing more than something to avoid hunger and all the noise from outside our door had made us sleepy. This was bad: The prices on food and drinks The breakfast The not so clean room The hotel staff's knowledge The check in and the check out. (They didn't even know that we paid before we came). This was good: The weather The island The nature The lovely main building So overall, a poor experience, but we enjoyed the island on our motorbike instead.
MGThe hotel is in a nice location and tries to offer old-time rustic-type atmosphere. So it was interesting to stay for one night travelling to Bergen. The service was basic, the breakfast - normal (no warm buffet).
