Talcomb Cottage in Thornthwaite Keswick

The location was perfect. We could hear the stream from the bedroom. Short drive to all the destinations we wanted to visit. Newly renovated bathroom and kitchen

On arrival, we struggled to open the upper lock. What made the issue worse were the wasps flying around from the nest literally less than 1.5 meter from the door. Could not get in touch with the manager of the property as was on holiday themselves. There is no garden which was a bit problematic travelling with dogs. Some black mould in the bedroom. The double bedroom was not really a double with roughly 30 cm on either side of the bed to pass through- we opted to sleep in the twin room. The bathroom is downstairs and the stairs themselves are just unsafe. We are young and fit but had to take extra care on those steep steps with varied heights. No storage in the bathroom- a shelf would be great addition. The shower door would not close and water was running outside the shower. No utensils suitable for non- stick pans and hence scratched cookware. Thankfully we had brought an air fryer

A very homely cottage with good facilities and a decent access to the lakes.

The stairs were very steep and the carpet was very slippery and the 4 th step was not level which resulted in my wife falling on our last day. She sprained her ankle which is now very painful. The toilet and shower being downstairs made visits at night very difficult.

Was a lovely little cottage which suited all our needs. Was very warm and welcoming as soon as you walk through the door.

Nothing to do with the property it’s self or its location. There was a wasp next outside the front door which didn’t help. Can’t help nature, but couldn’t open windows in kitchen when cooking.

Upstairs very basic,single mattress well used,didnt feel very fresh

The property is in a super location with beautiful views . You can walk to various streams dog walks are full of beautiful views

The stairs are very steep in the property so maybe not suitable for people that are unsteady on their feet

Convenient for the fells I wanted to climb. Good for the dog, with footpaths available straight from the property. Comfortable bed. Well equipped kitchen.

I could not work out the shower, which was super strong flow (with no means of adjustment) but just off cold. Unusual for an electric shower. Normally you can reduce the flow and increase the heat.

Location was perfect, walked to Braithewaite, walked to Viewing point Whinlatter forest and over to St Mary's church grounds. Short drive to Keswick and Bassenthwaite lake. Cottage was clean, there were games for the family to play. Easy instructions left for all appliances.

Hairdryer didn't work but that is literally only negative I could find.

Located in a quiet setting next to the forest and handy for walks. Nice views out of the lounge.

Downstairs loo/bathroom not ideal but knew about that at the time of booking. Stairs steep.

We had a wonderful time in a quiet place with beautiful views. The cottage is very clean and cozy. The kitchen was equipped with everything we wanted.
