Gardiner House

The building itself is stunningly beautiful inside and out so I was slightly disappointed at the room itself which was beautiful but soulless. The heating was not great and I was there when it snowed. There is no room service and no phone which I found unacceptable especially as a single female traveller. A note next to the ice bucket said 'If you want ice get it from the bar'. There was no facility to make coffee (and no way to order one) and the refreshment selection was underwhelming. The bath towels were the size of flannels - this is a pet peeve of mine. WHY do hotels of this 'quality' not have large bath towels?! The water pressure was not great. No seat at the desk. The room key has the name of the hotel and the room number - not great if you drop it somewhere. The fan in the bathroom did not work. I could feel the sharp gripper underneath the very thin carpet at some places. The Restaurant was fantastic, great ambience, the food was excellent (great choices) and the staff were helpful, kind and very personable. Breakfast was better than advertised - it said in the blurb that 'Continental Breakfast' was included but they also had a selection of eggs and pancakes which was a bonus! I would say that as this is a very new hotel maybe it just needs to grow into itself. I hope so as it has huge potential if they get the little things right.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we even extended it an additional night. The staff was fantastic and the downstairs lounge area was one of our favorite spots!

Beautiful space, so close to Thames. Convenient garage to park car. Room is stunning, massive bathroom. Definitely will come back

Convenient easy complimentary parking, very nice interior style throughout and good location. Breakfast good.

Not much of a view surrounding the property but not a problem to overlook. The wait staff at breakfast forgot us but they made up for it

Splendid decor, great use of colour. Comfy rooms, lovely details - the bathroom floor, for example, or the wallpaper in the room entrance. Very, very nice bar for an evening aperitif and nice restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff.

Apparently no room has a sea view - we got the parking lot. If you imagine yourself lying in the super-fine bed lazily watching the waves... nope. It's an incentive to explore Newport, I guess.

Wonderful little boutique hotel—beautiful down to the smallest details. The location is perfect for walking to Newport shopping and restaurants. The dining room has an amazing view and breakfast was delicious. I have nothing negative to say. It completely exceeded my expectations. I will stay here again.
