Room was comfortable.

This was our second stay at this property prior to a cruise. The cruise port is only 3-4 blocks away. We asked the Alma staff to order us a taxi for the cruise port. They did. We then witnessed the cab driver talk with the bell hop and possibly hand him money. The taxi drove us the 3 blocks to the cruise port..we were then expected to pay the taxi driver $75 American!! He yelled at us in Spanish when we said “no”!! Long story short..we were extorted for a lot of money for a $10 dollar drive. If you know San Juan..you know we could not have walked with our luggage on a down hill road made of cobble stone. Shame on you Alma..we held you at great regard until this incident!!

The ONLY thing above what I would normally expect was the location. The location was great for walking to the forts and cathedral in Old San Juan.

I travel ALOT and this property is WAY over priced for what you get. When I pay over $350.00 a night for a room, I expect more than a roadside hotel experience. The room was very small and no where to put any small items; no desk, or dresser. Barely room to move around the bed. There was a folding rack to place your luggage and that was it. There was a small fridge but on top of it, the space was full of a display of items to eat that you would be charged for if opened/consumed. There was an adjoining room door that could not be locked from my side, which felt unsafe. The bathroom had NO vanity space for toiletries either. The bathroom looked clean, but smelled dirty, like a public, nasty bathroom smell. I think it just needed a thorough cleaning around the toilet. There was NO window to the outside, only a window to an inside area which was extremely loud. I had to wear earplugs to sleep here. This room was a rip off….so not worth the money.

extra charges were made to our card and they refused to refund them. destination charges are included with booking.com, alma charged them on top of our booking and has failed to return them to us.

I loved the location, I loved my room which was large, had an incredible shower, wonderful mirror for doing makeup and getting ready, and plenty of closet and drawer space.

I didn't like the security within the hotel. The rooftop is open to outside guests, which is fine, but there was no way to ensure outside guests aren't roaming the floors with rooms. That made me feel slightly unsafe.

I did not like the hotel because it does not have a parking and no windows in my bedroom.

The bedroom needs a window and closer parking.
