JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa

My husband and I went to the spa for a couples massage and it was amazing our service providers Limah and Katie were excellent. My husband said it was one of the best massages he ever had and we definitely would go back and request these two masseuses again they knew exactly what they were doing and they were knowledgeable and attentive and really found the areas that needed to be work on. The front was amazing. Juliana and Chris were welcoming and helpful. Overall it was a wonderful experience and that is why we love coming to this hotel and the spa.

This hotel is visually nice, but the experience doesn’t match the JW brand at all. It feels like a standard Marriott that’s been dressed up and focused on monetizing every square foot instead of delivering actual hospitality. Room & Storage: Room itself is fine, but storage is oddly terrible for the room size. Basic layout issues you wouldn’t expect at this price point. Service: Pool staff was genuinely very nice and housekeeping was efficient. The front desk, however, seemed trained to say no first to anything. Simple requests felt like negotiations. There’s no sense of hospitality or problem solving here. Elite Recognition: If you’re a Marriott Platinum or above don’t expect much. In my case, they were actively selling 4pm checkout to non-elites on their ipoolside website on the same day I checked in, but refused to honor late checkout as an elite benefit. When I pointed out that the website literally says elites shouldn’t buy it and showed they were selling 2pm checkout at this point - they agreed to give me the 2pm checkout they claimed a minute ago was “not available.” So yes—they chose to hold the 4pm slot to sell it rather than honor the published elite benefit. Tried to hold the 2pm slot until I called them out. That tells you everything about how this hotel operates. Location: Quieter end of Clearwater Beach near Sand Key. Nice walk over the bridge. Good if you want to avoid the chaos, but don’t book here expecting a true beachfront Gulf experience. Beach & Pool Deck: The “beach” is tiny and on the intracoastal, not the Gulf. It smells like the intracoastal. The pool deck could have an incredible Gulf view, but the entire front edge is blocked by overpriced “pod loungers” that no one used the entire time we were there. So the best views sit empty while paying guests get the leftover sightlines. Again—monetization over experience. Food & Drink: Food and drinks were fine to good. Nothing standout. Coffee shop hours listed in the app were wrong; staff was aware and just shrugged. Basic operational details are ignored. “Complimentary”Wellness Activities: We booked this property specifically for the morning meditation and yoga classes offered Friday and Saturday. After checking in Thursday, we received an email from a manager informing us those classes were canceled. No explanation, no alternatives, no attempt to make it right. Just gone. If you market wellness programming as part of the experience, you can’t treat it like a dispensable footnote. Cleanliness: Housekeeping did their job well and the property is clean. ⸻ Bottom Line: This hotel is trying very hard to look like a JW, but the mindset, service, and guest experience are squarely Marriott-level at best. If your expectations are set correctly, you’ll be fine. But if you’re choosing it because it’s a JW or because you expect elite benefits to mean anything here you’ll be disappointed.

Had a wonderful time at this resort. Room clean and upgraded to amazing beach front balcony view. Food so good, no reason to leave. Service excellent overall but James at the lunch pool/beach restaurant was exceptional and is an asset to the property. Thank you for a lovely visit.

My wife and I went to the JW spa for a couples massage. The 110 minute message was amazing with both Demi and Magdalena doing amazing jobs. In addition, the entire spa experience is top notch with all the extras included and excellent customer service via Colton and Chris. 5 star all the way around!!!

This was our second trip within the last year. The place is beautiful, staff Excellent and we absolutely love the place. The only issue we had was the little car who transports you to the downtown area was out for repair....a small problem. Lol. Also, we are used to adults only resorts and there are alot of children running around diving into the pool etc.... these two little issues won't stop us from going back. We can't Thank the staff enough!!!

I just got home from my stay and couldn’t wait to post my review. We took our family friend for her 97th birthday weekend. Everyone from the valet to the beach crew, the servers and hotel staff made her experience unforgettable. I would give everyone 10 stars if I could. To the men who helped me push the ladies on the beach with the inflated wheelchairs, you made an “old ladies” lol birthday wish come true. All she wanted for her 97th birthday was a stroll on the beach and to sit and listen to the waves. Not only did you make that happen, you treated her like a queen and made sure we always ice cold water at hand for us. I can’t thank you enough. Shout out to the valet staff for always having cold water bottles in hand every time we arrived or left the building and helping us get her in and out of the Ubers, it was no easy feat. Serious shout out to Ethan Y, Cory T, Alyssa & Tim M in Valet. They were our first and last encounter and made the stay just perfect. Thank you all!
