The Washington Inn

Super schöne Lage, individuelle Wünsche werden erfüllt wenn es möglich ist. Man kann als Gast kommen und gehen wann man will, die Küche und Gemeinschaftsräume immer nutzen, es gibt eine Terrasse mit Grill. Restaurant nebenan und Deli um die Ecke sind zu empfehlen. Man fühlt sich willkommen!

Die Terrasse war leider wenig gepflegt. Auch Details in den Zimmern dürften häufiger gereinigt werden (Fliegengitter).

The historic story, its cleanliness and the Riverview

The sheets were not cotton; they were that greasy feeling microfiber and check-in was not smooth.

The Washington Inn is an historic property, built in 1902. It is located in the rural community of Fries, VA, deep in the mid-Appalachians. We used it as a jumping off place to bicycle the southern portion of the New River Trail. Richard, the manager of the Inn, takes a lot of pride in keeping up the property and was very accommodating. The Inn sits right on the river, behind a flood wall, with views of the dam that was constructed to provide power to this mill town. It serves as a community center of sorts. When we returned from our bike ride, a woman was giving banjo lessons in the sitting area. The Inn was pleasant and very clean. The rooms are small, and not always level, but as Richard said, "She's sturdy enough." The bathrooms are newly remodeled. Entry is gained through digital locks. The Inn does not serve food, although it has a kitchen where you can cook for yourself. You do get 25% off breakfast at the New River Side Store and Deli, which is about 2 miles out of town. The breakfast is a deal without the discount. A full plate of biscuits, gravy, two eggs and meat is only $7.75. The coffee was also very good. All in all, a very pleasant experience that I recommend.

It would be nice to have a larger bed . . . .

It was a very unique place and the suite was great! Tons of room and the beds were all very comfy. The view was great too.
