Mandarin Oriental, Muscat

The rooms are excellent, but this hotel is in completely the wrong location for a chain of its caliber. The staff are friendly, though somewhat untrained—perhaps due to teething issues as it’s a new hotel. However, the food is well below standard throughout. Breakfast is especially disappointing, with “hot” food served cold. Dining at the Italian restaurant, Essenza, was an expensive letdown, featuring bland, pre-prepared dishes—some under-seasoned, others over-seasoned to the point of being inedible. It felt as if untrained staff were filling in, and we even witnessed staff disputes during our stay. Despite the lovely rooms, I wouldn’t consider staying here again.

We called to reserve for Iftar and we been told that they will call us back and we got completely ignored Nice way of gaining reputation. I guess you have enough number of customers and you don’t need anymore and that’s exactly how you start declining by focusing on quantity instead of quality

Just had a 3 night stay at MO Muscat. Our first stay at a MO and it didn’t disappoint. The hotel and grounds are stunning, 20 minutes from the airport in a quiet neighbourhood overlooking the ocean. The beach is public but very clean and pretty with a nice promenade to take a stroll. Our room was beautiful, very spacious, clean, comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely. Our room was stocked with everything you need. Breakfast was by the pool, with plenty of options, and great service, big shout out to Om! Service around the pool also very good. We ate one night at the Rawya restaurant which was great and had cocktails in the Essenza bar a couple of times. Gym well equipped, used the steam room in the spa as well. The only criticism we could make is the lack of personal touches that we’ve experienced in other 5 star hotels; little gifts in the room at turndown ,goodbye presents etc. But overall a wonderful stay and we would definitely return to this hotel.

Fantastic modern but elegant hotel with amazing location on beach and near to the city

Hotel was exceptionally clean and the service was excellent as well. Will definitely recommend if you are traveling with family.
