Mandarin Oriental, Muscat

Wonderful hotel, amazing hospitable team, great location and a picturesque view. It was a pleasure to stay there. I should mention a beautiful lady called Moe, who took care about my room. She is Cinderella: charming, modest, smiley and very hardworking.

This is a hotel with not only excellent facilities but all the staff make you feel welcomed and appreciated during your stay. I would book the Mandarin Muscat for every visit.

Perfect with Amazing service!

I recently stayed at the new Mandarin Oriental in Muscat and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is absolutely beautiful — the design strikes a perfect balance between luxury and a sense of place, with thoughtful Omani influences throughout. I especially loved the lobby, the pool areas, and the restaurants, all of which felt high-end yet welcoming. I stayed in a club-level room, which gave me access to the Two Three 58 Club — one of the highlights of my stay. The club offers breathtaking ocean views, which was a real treat since my room faced the city (with dramatic mountains in the distance, also stunning). The club breakfast was excellent — a small but high-quality buffet paired with an à la carte menu. Evenings featured drinks and tasty hors d'oeuvres, and the service throughout was impeccable. My room was spacious, stylishly decorated, and featured lots of local artwork. The bathroom was enormous, and the whole space felt intentional and well-designed. My only complaint was the lack of a desk, which was surprising for a hotel of this caliber. The main restaurant breakfast, however, was a miss. The buffet was underwhelming, the hot food was cold, and my cooked-to-order dishes were slow and not worth the wait. On the other hand, I dined at the Italian restaurant one evening — the food was fine but not memorable, though the setting was beautiful and worth seeing. One important note: while the hotel sits right on the water, the beach is public and not really swimmable or private, so I would not call this a “beach resort.” That said, sunsets over the water were incredible, and the overall ambiance made up for the lack of a private beach experience. Location-wise, you will need to use taxis to get around, but Otaxi was easy, fast, and inexpensive. There are a few local spots within walking distance, but for most destinations you will be taking a car — though nowhere is very far. In all, I would gladly stay here again. Between the stunning design, excellent club experience, and warm service, the Mandarin Oriental Muscat is a great addition to the city’s luxury hotel scene.

The property is centrally located, quite close to the airport, and is new, spotless, and impeccably maintained. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The outdoor spaces include a single pool, which can become an issue during peak seasons, especially when there are many families. During our stay, there were a few days when the pool area was far from relaxing due to the number of children and families. It would be ideal to have two separate pools—one for families and one for guests looking for a quieter, more relaxing experience. There’s also a public beach adjacent to the property with a few sunbeds provided by the hotel. However, since it’s outside the main hotel premises, the service wasn’t exactly impeccable, requests often took a long time to be fulfilled, and in some cases, we had to call multiple times to get assistance. In our opinion, during our stay, there seemed to be a lack of staff overall. This sometimes led to longer wait times and less-than-perfect organization in both the beach area and other parts of the hotel. Breakfast was a bit underwhelming. The selection was quite limited and remained the same every day, which became repetitive. While I understand the focus on sustainability and minimizing waste, the variety was too restricted, especially in terms of traditional/local options. The emphasis seemed to be more on international dishes. Despite these points, it’s generally a great place to stay and I would recommend it. Special mention to Hilton and Shirin for their impeccable assistance and beautiful smiles.

The moment you walk through the heavy wooden doors, you feel it the essence of Omani culture is everywhere. From the chandeliers to thandpicked art pieces. You can tell everything was chosen with intention. The place smells like Omani flowers and frankincense . Every corner is a blend tradition, relaxation and art. The atmosphere is warm and calming, the staff are genuinely welcoming, and everything is spotless. This place doesn’t just look good, it feels good.

We had an outstanding experience at the Mandarin Oriental, Muscat. From start to finish, the staff were exceptionally warm, attentive and proactive in anticipating guest needs. The property itself is stunning: sophisticated design, beautifully maintained and set in an unbeatable beachfront location. Our room was spacious, elegant and thoughtfully appointed. The breakfast buffet was truly excellent, offering a wide variety of high-quality options to suit every palate. A couple of small suggestions for management: it would be great to see a few more entrée options added to the made-to-order breakfast menu, and portable fans for outdoor tables at the Essenza restaurant would be a welcome touch during the hotter summer months. Overall, a five-star experience that I would enthusiastically recommend.

We were welcomed at MO by friendly and bubbly reception staff. The lobby is cozy and beautifully designed. Our rooms were luxurious with a nice size balcony. The hotel and propert is immaculately kept. This will definitely be my hotel of choice in Muscat city

Very bad service. Went to the lobby for afternoon tea and was surprised to be kept for more than 15 min without anyone came to take our order until I called someone. Then he asked if we have reservations? Like really we already are sitting so if we don’t have reservations you won’t take our order ? Then we ordered afternoon tea he told us wait let me check. He disappeared again for another 15 min then coming back and tell us we don’t have finished. Like wow I took my family and left again we were kept to to wait for our car for another 20 min… I mean what else can I say so disappointed .. I don’t recommend at all

This is the best hotel in Muscat city. The location itself is wonderful. The hotel sits on a beautiful stretch of beach (Qurum) which made it easy for day tours and city attractions. The property is literally stunning. It has very luxurious finishings, spacious rooms and great restaurants, gym and spa. Very kind staff and exceptional breakfast and dinner that we had at Rawya Restaurant. It is undoubtedly a real 5-star experience compared to all the others in the city. We will come back for sure!
