Peter the owner of this property is a very nice, helpful man. He has put a lot of work and time into this building which caters for low budget stay yet he supplies a self service hot meal and continental breakfast which was very tasty. Our room was bright and cosy, no tv which was not a problem as we had gone out for a birthday party elsewhere. Comfy settee, fresh milk in worktop fridge for drinks supplied and even though a band seemed to be practising after karaoke finished we did get to sleep until 8am. No ensuite but not a problem as separate modern toilet and shower room just nearby bedroom. Even though building is on the road the traffic noise was minimal. Peter still has a lot to do with the property, it is a work in progress and even though Peter working alone he will succeed. Staff and other guests where also friendly and helpful. There is a wood/park at bottom of the road where we took our dogs for a walk, pub restaurant 5 minute walk from Oddfellows as too is easy access to the M60, Peter advised us of this as we had arrived on a different route.

Overall, I enjoyed my time. I really liked my roommates, and the bedding was comfortable. I could feel some of the mattress springs, but I got decent sleep. The host, Peter, was pleasant and welcoming. Despite signs saying to keep doors closed because the heat was on, it was always cold in the rooms and halls. The bathroom never had toilet paper in it, but no one else ever commented on it, so I just made-do. I did not say anything and I accept that. Some nights were noisy because of the bar downstairs, but that's to be expected. I found it easy to sleep through. One night we had some particularly rowdy residents fighting and the shouting was very annoying, but my roommates and I stayed up just chatting, instead. Check-in and check-out was very straightforward, although the getting in part took longer because I was early, called, but did not leave a message. Entry and exit from the building after check-in was very easy. Breakfast was provided for, with a variety of choice. However, you needed to be early, lest other residents eat all the portions provided. That's not the fault of the host; greedy people are everywhere. The surrounding neighborhood was very quiet and felt safe. The bus stop is just a 3 minute walk from the back door and connects to a larger bus terminal in a short distance. The area is farther away from Manchester City Centre, but you guarantee some peace and quiet, if that's what is preferred. I enjoyed my time and would stay here, again.

Scruffy & dirty, as soon as i saw the condition of the building, i wasn't staying there, i was assured by the owner that the rest of the premises had been refurbished and was good but im afraid one look inside confirmed for me, i wouldn't be staying there so i left and had to pay for another hotel

This inn was done to a good standard considering its part of a pub. Unfortunately, as a result of a last minute booking, the host wasnt available to check me in so one of the bar staff let me in but had to wait an hour until the pub opened at 7pm. 3-5pm check in was made clear on the site, however arrived late so its not practical for last minute bookings. The double room was nice, a great size with a sofa so felt like good value for money. Shared bathroom was well kept but shower tray was a little tired. I had a drink at the bar minding my own business to unwind after a busy day but my stay was completely ruined by a customer who was a local. Sadly, the person singled me out and was racially abusive to me (I’m British Indian). Slowly they were becoming more and more confrontational until I was made to leave after being violently threatened if i didnt go. Unfortunately, during this escalation, the bar staff were no where to be seen which left me feeling very unsafe and trapped. I returned to my room and locked myself in until the pub shut following which i left in the early hours to get away. The host mentioned i should have phoned him but quite frankly, it wasnt on my mind considering they weren't about and i was feeling very trapped. The person was saying how he was a gypsy so the last thing i wanted to do was create any trouble for anyone when he knew i was staying there. Id have given top marks but this ruined my overall stay and a shame staff were not about during this
