The Downtown Abbey

It was such a unique and interesting venue!

Very unique place to stay, spacious, lovely bathroom, 2 seperate rooms, close to places to eat or drink. Could have stayed longer with pleasure

Location, ambiance.

Walls are soooo thin! Neighbors were having a party the whole 2 days we were there. They were very loud/yelling and were talking loud and slamming doors the whole time. Bathroom was dimly lit with only 1 set of lights. Needed hand towel. Handles on bathtub were off for shower feature. Remote for tv had low batteries and didn’t work well. Sitting area/living room was not comfortable to sit in to watch a movie (couch or chairs). Beds were ok. Place was roomy and quaint.

The shower attachment didn’t work & bathtub was dirty. There is no interior deadbolt on the front door. No way to feel secure in the unit. Cracks in the walls & floors due to foundation damage. Can’t close the bedroom doors because of foundation damage & rug in the way. Constant harassment from the landlord threatening to fine the renters. Traffic noise made it impossible to sleep. Had to leave at 1:00am to find another hotel so we could sleep.

Amazing location, gorgeous historic building, great communication with owner, easy combo code & amaaaazing bath tub!!!

The bedroom door didn’t fully close because of foundation issues.

Dirty ac vent/ filter.

Loved the decor, high ceilings, original wood floors. Amazingly high windows with gothic peaks. I really liked that the dining room table can be used as a desk and is right up against the window so you have great lighting as you're working as I was partially on this trip.

I would just make sure the people staying know that it has only a bath tub, no stand up shower option. This was not a big deal for me but others may need other options.

The location is amazing. You can walk to downtown San Marcos and to close-by restaurants and bars. We slept very well in the cozy bed and it was nice and quiet.

All was good.

The location was perfect.

The grounds, were not clean. Even though It’s winter, the leaves could have been cleaned from the outside stairs. Although esthetically clean, the air was “old” smelling. There were spider webs on the floor board corners. When you’re charging a cleanup fee, guest expect clean.
